I really didn't know where else to turn since the 65LW6500 doesn't really fit in with the other LG Passive sets (not sure why LG called it a LW6500)... I had this set for less than a week and I am still tweaking the settings- I discovered that this set does not have LED local dimming. Overall I am very happy with this set, but I want to make sure I am getting the most out of this set. I believe passive is the only viable option for me and my family...

I am looking for some possible calibration settings (2d and 3d)...
and any other suggestions-

the screen is glossy, but I am finding out that I can live with a glossy screen- even with having 2 big skylights... (My 3 year old 27" imac is glossy and I was worried at first)...

Not sure how many of us are out there, but I like to think that I am not the only one with this set.... thanks

Might try the LG passive LW6500 dedicated thread. It can be found in the 3-D Displays section of the avs forum.

I did this quick video from my iPhone - the video from the iPhone does not capture what this tv truly looks like. It's not perfect but overall not bad.

So are you saying the LEDs are on all the time? Because on the Spec Sheet at http://www.lg.com/us/products/docume...ec%20sheet.pdf it is listing it has having "LED Plus" which is their term for LED with local dimming.

If this is true, I might have to send it back. I am already quite upset about the Glossy issue.

How is your Magic Motion Control? Using mine is bad. I have to keep moving my hand to keep it in one place. I called LG support and they said that was normal. I can't imagine them putting out a product that acted that goofy.

I just found an older version of the spec sheet at http://edinw.com/Spec_Sheets/LG_65LW6500_SPEC.pdf, that infact states that it has "LED Plus w Local Dimming". The longer I have this TV, the more I feel like we were lied/misled on what it was supposed to be. I might just have to wait on Toshiba's Passive 3D 65" 65TL515.

I would value, very much your criticism and opinion as this is a panel I am concidering... but you've lived with it ..I thought you said wife and children loved it" do you mean by "full" a full array, local dimming? So i'm guessing mura, light leakage on letterboxing?? Are your issues? Others? Help some of to not make an expensive mistake from your prospective .. thanks"

I posted this on the LG LW6500 thread.... I am no longer an owner of the 65LW6500 (I will be looking for another large screen 3d TV)

That was quick- I called amazon this morning (Wed. July 19) to tell them that I wanted to return my set and before I knew it Pilot said that they have a guy in my area and it is gone... (I don't like how Pilot handles the TV- I carefully packed everything up and helped the guy carry the tv out to his hand cart- we had to hold the TV at the bottom since there were no straps around the two pieces- I saw as he had the tv on his hand cart that the box was coming apart- he didn't seem too concern- as long as amazon receives the tv in one piece. Before ordering the 65lw6500 I placed an order for a Samsung 64D7000, but it was delivered by Pilot with a huge crack on the screen)...

Ok the main reason I decided to send it back was because I started noticing a vertically line along the righthand side of the TV- I could really see it during a light solid background- I noticed it even more in 3d (I bought Under the Sea bluray and it was very noticeable)... I tried different settings and thought I could live with it, but then my wife notice it. It really didn't bother her that much but since I this is the most expensive TV I ever purchased I don't think I should have to live with it...

I do like the idea of passive 3d and this set looked great when it was a bright colorful scene, but I feel this set was an afterthought for LG and should have had a different model number- when it is called a LW6500 it should have all the features of the smaller versions of this series...

I will be waiting for another 65" plus passive TV (Is LG going to make a Passive plasma?)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o_bq3HoUH-Y

I know need to live with a 47" Sony in the family room- I am not moving my 60" Sony out of my bedroom...

I certainly support your decision. If I can't figure out anouther alternative, I am going to have to send mine back. Did you have the same problems I meantioned above with the magic motion remote?

I too had some issues with the magic motion remote- I did notice I had most success when I pointed in the center of the TV and hit enter-

I am not sure what I will get next- I too may way to see the 65" Toshiba or I may consider a new 2011 82" DLP...

I wish there was the perfect TV...

Just bought this TV, and must admit pretty excited to get it in. Its my first HDTV, getting rid of the old CRT style, figured go big or go home. Will use it mainly for movies and video games as I do not watch much cable tv. Any suggestions by those that own this TV as to the best way to handle calibration and all that jazz...

I notice every display showing passive 3d uses the smaller sets. This worries me that the 65 inch isn't as good. Does the 65 inch 3d look as good as the displays with the smaller TVs?

Try the picture wizard as a starting point, then adjust from there.

Does anyone know if local dimming can be activated via the service menu? Just read an amazon review and the guy said he used a harmony remote to turn the feature on??? Coming from an lg plasma, I know you can use a harmony remote to access the service menu.

Just bought this TV and WOW is it nice. The 3D is stunning and fast. Now if I could just get my HTPC to output BLuray's in 3D to it.

I invented the question mark.....

I saw in many instances that if you own one of those high end harmony universal remote, you can enable or control hidden feature like local dimming. I have not done a search yet on how but it must be true since so many people mention it on their review. Please post the link or instruction if anyone found out any additional info on this.

Hi, i have the 65LW6500 here in Australia, and i am keen to load the US firmware as it includes the Netflix app.

Currently the Australian firmware excludes the Netflix app, and has been customised for local content, however i would much prefer to use the inbuilt LG Netflix app that is included with the US firmware.

The latest Australian firmware is SOFTWARE FILE(VERSION 05.00.07)
The latest US firmware is SOFTWARE FILE(VERSION 05.00.10)

I am also using UnoTelly which allows me to access Netflix using Boxee from Austraia.

Im keen to hear any suggestions or tips on how i can load the US firmware to access the onboard Netflix.

thanks in advance.
