Update, was called by HSN to verify shipping address. The anticipation is a great feeling.

I'm not that far along, but I can no longer cancel my order. Seems like things are progressing.

Although I did like having the option to cancel at any time!

Me thinks you may want to consider Gorilla Glass that Sony uses in such a case.

What's with all these HSN Shoppers - give up your mancards guys.

I called them on Monday or Tuesday to ask why it would take 3 weeks to ship and the lady said it probably won't take that long but they put the longest estimated time on there. She said that they usually ship out before that date but she couldn't promise anything.

We'll see. That would be nice.

My LG plasma held up really well. I had a PS80. They were one of the 1st televisions to have the one sheet glass design, so I passed on the KRP for fear it may get demolished. That glass held up unbelievably well. It took some crazy blows. I was in the market for the HX909 because of its glass front until we all discovered this hopeful gem. As far as the man card, thats pretty funny and I would of thought same thing a couple years ago. But shopnbc, qvc, and hsn all have major televisions now and they have for the last 2 years. The only tv's I have not seen were the VT's and V series from panny. Everything else has been on at one time or another atleast once. And the payments are great for people who cant pay in one lump sum. I tell you what, as soon as the PND8000's(shopnbc and qvc) come down in price, I will be tempted. Cuz I do need to replace my plasma with another.

Yeah, I know. The people on this forum aren't the standard target audience from the looks of their main product image:

So having just watched the video, its clear the LG 'dumped' them on HSN as HSN glossed it with 'LG built this exclusively for our 34th anniversary or some-such nonsense'. So LG had 5K or so models made prior to deciding to axe this model number for release in the states?

The rf emitter shares the rf transceiver assembly with the magic motion remote.

If your set ships with a magic motion remote (mmr), and your mmr is working ok, then you have an rf emitter-

The LG rep that sent me the 55LV9500 spec sheet a couple days ago said these models would be rolling out to stores in the future, so unless the model sold by HSN really is "5LV9500" and not a typo of "55LV9500", I don't think this is a case of dumping. They could have said that since they're apparently the first retailer to get their hands on this product.

The creation date for spec-55LV9500.pdf is "Jul 27, 2011 8:35 AM".

I was hoping that might be the case.
MMR is definitely included and definitely works. No matter how I try, the glasses just won't sync though. :-(

Where have I heard that word before. Well it's here in Canada at FS or BB, who get an `Exclusive' on a new product just out in order to sell it at the highest profit level possible before competition sets in, and the price starts to drop. It appears here, HSN is doing the opposite, start low, sell everyone who wants one, and probably future 55LW9800 clients as well. This will keep the sales out of the competitions stores! Now, I wonder if HSN will get a 3 month `Exclusive' as well on the 55LW9800?
As far as dumping, I don't think so. The Model is available for specs on all the LG sites, as well as on the TechAssistKnowledgeBase.
How many 55LW9800 future purchasers looked at the pricing of $1499 for 2D, and decided to let the over $3000 3D go for now? Essentially same specs, just missing 3D, although I see hints that the 55LW9800 will have a different panel.

Thanks Konica for the URL!

Yes, but you now possess a comprehensive troubleshooting guide, http://136.166.4.200/contents/Displa...leshooting.pdf so your work is cut out for you.

In particular, you should focus on the 50PZ950 section of the guide to rule out hardware issues. If the hardware checks out ok, you could play with the config parameters in debug mode, if you are so inclined.

You could also change your country settings temporarily as a quick test.

My suggestions only apply to the 55LW9500-TA and not the 55LV9500-UA.

It's an IPS panel with an ALEF (nano) backlight, and glossy screen.

What we don't know is -

1. Is this an improvement over the 55LX9500? (no iop banding)
2. Is this an improvement over the 55LHX? (no DSE)

If HSN has a decent return policy, it may make sense to check this unit out.

Also, if anyone has a defective panel that LG cannot replace, because replacement units are no longer available, they should be able to request the 55LV9500 as a replacement.

Do you mean anyone that has a defective 55LX9500 or 55LHX panel, or do you mean that these things HSN is selling aren't actually 55LV9500 and if one of them is defective LG will replace with a "real" 55LV9500?

Any more info on whether 3D is possible with this? If so, I'm in. I really couldn't care less, but the family is insisting on 3D.

I can confirm that i've been able to enable the 3D option through the ez start menu, the screen processes the image correctly. However I haven't been able to get the AG-S250 2011 RF glasses to sync.

Nony has been very helpful in providing some excellent technical info, some of which i can test, but a lot seems to rely on opening the screen up - which at this stage with a 3 year warranty, i'm just not prepared to do.

I appears you're trying active shutter glasses. You don't have any passive glasses lying around?

Hmm, maybe the 3D glasses need to be IR, not RF. Last year's 3D glasses were IR, I think. This year is RF. If the magic wand remote is IR, maybe we need IR glasses? To be upfront, I have no info about LG IR vs RF glasees, it was just something I saw on Amazon that mentioned 2010 glasses were IR.

Here's the tech details on last years from Amazon, on the AG-S100 (btw about $44 per pair).

Product Features
7m / 120 Degree
Compatible LCD Models: LX9500, LEX9, LEX8, LX6500
Power Consumption 5.3mW (on)
Rechargable
Technical Details
Model: AG-S100
LG link:
http://www.lg.com/us/tv-audio-video/...es-AG-S100.jsp

Also, it seems that the AG-S250 is NOT compatible with Cinema 3d (is this the type of 3D we are talking about on this set, perhaps?), per LG website: Compatibilty: PZ950, PZ970, PZ550, PW350 (not compatible with Cinema 3D or prior model year)
http://www.lg.com/us/tv-audio-video/...es-AG-S250.jsp

Can anyone who has this set try this out? The only thing I'm on the fence about is that 3D issue. If this can do 3D and we can figure it out, I'm in.

I can absolutely guarantee that the screen isn't passive.
If you have a look at the 3D image on an LW6500, when you are close to the screen you can clearly see black lines. If you look through the appropriate thread, people are are all talking about it - personally I think it's moot, as when you move back to normal viewing distance they're not visible at all - but that's beside the point.

I'll see if I can get a pair of the 2010 IR glasses, but i'm pretty sure that it's RF.
The panel is a 2011 model, the magic motion remote is RF, and even looking at some of the older descriptions for the AG-S250 glasses, it says they were compatible with the LW9500.

Here's a pic of the lines in 3D images due to the FPR technology.
There's absolutely no sign of this when in 3D mode on my screen, hence my assuredness that it's not passive.
