the hardest issue for me to accept is the forum member who bought my 60" also bought my 70" and he has reported nothing in regards to the pulsing. maybe he'll chime in and confirm this. the only thing i can think of that i did not do other than a picture mode reset, was leave it unplugged for an extended amount of time. maybe this somehow becomes a hard reset. it still doesn't explain when i first received it from the carrier for the first time, and immediately saw it when i first fired it up. i will say this display has left me baffled unlike know other set.

i would think the new owner has enough critical eye experience that he would see it. yet nothing has been reported. it was just so easy to see in sitcoms, tdk (court room) and on soap operas. i saw it everyday on anything i watched.

would love to, but 600 miles rnd trip. yikes...what ever happened to that time machine. i did head down to our mht store over this past wknd, and saw no pulsing on there 70" elite at all. it was not in thx mode for sure.
Maybe my experience will help explain the mystery. Before I bought the set, I spent many hours watching it at MHT. I never noticed the pulsing either. So it's not surprising to me that most people don't see it. It was only after I had it in my home for several days and watched a large variety of material, that it became noticeable. After seeing it in the really bad cases (such as the test clips I uploaded), my eyes/brain became much more sensitive and I started to notice it in less severe scenes where I didn't previously.
To verify that it wasn't a TV specific issue, I took the test clips on USB flash drive to MHT and tested on the same TV I examined before my purchase. The pulsing was exactly the same as my TV at home. I also tested on their larger Elite and it was still there too. I can only conclude that I didn't see it initially because of the content they played in the store (mix of Alice in Wonderland and some nature demo/documentary). I suggest that you go back to MHT with test material where you previously saw pulsing at home. Or just take the files I already posted here.
As to why the person you sold it to doesn't see it. The sales man in the store standing right next to me also claimed not to see it while I was running the tests. I can't say if he was being honest or not - you draw your own conclusions.

As the owner who purchased airgas' sets I can confidently say I've never seen any sort of pulsing what so ever.
Have you tested the 2 test clips I posted a few pages back? It's very simple to run them from any USB storage device (flash drive, camera, etc.). Test in Elite Pure first since that's the easiest to see. Then repeat in THX or whatever mode you normally use. Finally run again with local dimming off and see if you notice the difference. Also, if possible, try to limit room ambient lighting in case the screen reflections are hiding the issue.
BTW, I've sent these clips to Elite support along with detailed reproduction steps. Maybe they can eventually issue a firmware update to reduce the problem.
