Hi all -

I'm new to 3D, so posting this in the hopes that I'm just not doing it right.

I have two new tvs, a UN60D8000 and a UN55D7000, and I can't seem to get comcast 3d channels working with them.

I receive two 3d channels. One is side by side, and the other is top and bottom. I can see the dual images just fine (thechannels were grey until Comcast activated.) When I activate 3D on the Samsung television, the only option available is 2D->3D. All of the other options (top and bottom, side by side, tiled, etc) are greyed out. This is true for both televisions.

What am I missing?

Here's my setup:
Comcast cable (Chicagoland) -> Tivo HD -> Yamaha RX-V3900 -> Samsung UN60D8000

I just verified with Tivo customer support that their boxes don't support 3D. You'll have to get a Comcast DVR and be sure to specify you want a 3D capable model.

This is not true. See this page, http://customer.comcast.com/Pages/FA...2-e0d34a40a2f6 , or google "tivo hd 3d". You'll see many people have gotten this to work, many with Comcast. This, for example: http://forums.tivo.com/pe/action/for...ostID=10467894

No apology necessary. Helping each other get real facts is what this board is all about, and there is a lot of misinformation out there about Tivos and 3D, much from Tivo themselves. Just didn't want others giving up because Tivo and Comcast don't have it straight.

I have not gotten it to work yet, but I am going to try a few basics:
1. Wire the Tivo straight to the TV to take the AV receiver out of the equation. (Should have done this day 1)
2. Double check the output settings on the Tivo against the supported 3D input formats on the Samsung TV. Unlikely, but maybe something is borked up there.
3. Get a 3D bluray and make sure I can make that work, both direct and through the AV receiver.
4. Call Samsung

Given that the split picture shows up as expected from Comcast, I'm not sure why the TV doesn't like it. Any other ideas out there?

I am probably using HDMI 1.4 cables (I had a contractor do it 2 weeks ago, and he's the type of guy who would use the latest stuff), but I'm almost certain AV receiver and Tivo HD are not HDMI 1.4 compliant.

I also understand that shouldn't matter. Am I wrong?

Are the two pictures you're seeing separate images side by side or over under or do they overlap?

If they overlap does the amount of overlap vary or is it a constant degree of offset?

I figured it out. My Tivo somehow got reset to 480p video output. I switched it back to "Native" and now 3D is working like a champ. Tv recognizes it, recognizes correct top/bottom or side/side signal, and displays 3D. XGames in 3D is pretty cool, but I may need to take some dramamine before watching too much!

Interestingly, HD channels down-rezzed to 480p video and displayed on my 60" Samsung UN60d8000 looked remarkably good.

Thanks for the suggestions and help, folks.
