im thinking of buying one of this tv i can get the un55D6000 for 1099 or the kdl55hx729 for 1367. i realy dont care about 3d just want a tv with good PQ. is the 240hz feature on the sony worth the extra money? thanks

The HX729 also has the Pro engine inside which is also on their flagship model, to me that and 240Hz versus 120Hz is worth the extra money.

thanks for the reply. im starting to lean towards the sony. for an extra 200+ u get alot more features and from the reviews ive seen this tv dsnt look like it suffers from the flashlight and clouding issues that the samsung has.

ok i bought the sony tv at tigerdirect. tigers return policy is not as good as bb or hhgreg but the tv was not availble in those store. so before i open this tv can anyone who owns or has owned this tv give me a quick review thanks.

I had 729 since week tweak as cinema mode you get detail quality...
looks very good....Do not think another tv set while you already have 729
get calibrated as given by one topic here and go from there...

i finished setting up my hx729 when watching hd movies i see no flashlighting or clouding on dark scene but when the tv is switching to different inputs or when activating online features like netflix i see clouding and flashlight when the screen turns black before the netflix screen apears. is this normal or should i exchange my tv?

Just read hx729 forum and one member has detailed review on this i think
setting clear plus on cinema mode will resolve your issue not sure though...

Is it that big a deal if you cant see it during normal viewing?

If its just on menus and no input screens can you live with it?

The only way to reduce clouding/flashlighting is to down the backlight, turn motion flow on clear plus (again this dulls the backlight).

If you are still not happy then get the set replaced.
