Not sure why you guys are hard on op but he has right to want a TV that is not defective. It clearly seems to be a defect. Sony needs to replace/repair his set.

It all depends on how you define "defective". According to the nearby Sam's manager, it means unwatchable, or that it won't power-up!

I agree with Jim in that sony has done their best to take care of him...

I would consider his TV defective. If I saw this TV at a store in that condition no way would I buy that.

With that definition then you'd probably think my greenish tone r70-xbr2 isn't defective either. Let me know if you want to buy my none defective 70" TV with matching stand. I'll give you a much better deal than $6k I paid. It even comes with spare bulb.

Look, I come from a defective Sony XBR1. They made some decent offers and I took one of them. I was delighted to get the offer and never any regrets. Read the whole thread and if you don't agree...fine! Case closed!

Not trying to get in any debate but if you want to look at this from simplest point of view then question becomes, is that tv defective and I would have to agree that it is defective and I would think most people would agree.

This is what he post in another thread...

My thoughts exactly! They're final offer was to refund the price I paid for the HX929 and repair the A3000 free of charge. Problem being, I don't even have that television anymore and what would be the point of repairing something that is guaranteed to prematurely fail again?

Case closed and I am out of here! This has ben debated up and down and over...enough!
