So Im looking at these 2 models on bestbuy.com.

UN55D8000Y $2200 including tax
UN55D7000L $2350 including tax

Why is the 7000 model more expensive?

Really? Great title, but your question didn't live up to my expectations. How they differ is not really a mystery or even a coveted secret.

Have you tried comparing the specs or read the owners threads? I know it's probably easier to ask someone for that information than looking it up and doing research, but you might benefit from doing a little homework. It probably would have been better to post this question in the owners thread, than starting a new topic.

BTW, 60" D8000 is on sale for $2199 right now at Beach Camera, via ebay.

Good luck.

From everything ive read the 8000 is a better TV, yet it's cheaper at BB than the 7000. Almost everywhere else ive looked the 8000 is more expensive.

There is owners threads for both models, so no that doesnt make sense to post in one of them. Im asking about 2 different TVs here.

I'd rather not buy a TV from ebay. I'd want an extended warranty.

Beach Camera is a reputable business, but I'm not sure if they're official Samsung dealers. You can buy a square trade extended warranty at Costco for cheap.

2011s are running out, so the price hike might have something to do with that. The 7000s are also probably more popular buys at BB, than the 8000s. I'm not saying it's a better tv, it's just bought more, probably b/c it was cheaper.

Simple answer: BB is discounting the D8000 a lot more than they are the D7000. If you look at msrp you'll find the 8000 is hundreds more. This isn't that uncommon.

I sell tvs at another retailer and for weeks now we've had the Sony NX720 on sale for less than the lower EX720--just a bigger discount from msrp.
