I'm about to pull the trigger on a Samsung UN55D7000, as I think the price is about as low is it is going to go before the new models start shipping. My question is do I pull the trigger on this TV or wait for the new models? How quickly will the prices fall to the same level of the D7000 if at all? I hate buying last year's model, but it is such a good price right now that it's hard to pass up.

Samsung's introducing fixed pricing on higher end 2012 models including the ES7100

http://hdguru.com/will-samsungs-new-...317/#more-7317

Don't expect prices on '12 models to drop.

Do you mean they should stay pretty close to MSRP for their entire life cycle?

I don't know if it is set in stone, but that is the way it sounds. Samsung and Sony are going to try and do what Apple does and make it so no stores can sell for less than MSRP.

If you want to know what prices of last year's models did, like how fast they dropped, go to camelcamelcamel.com and search for a model, like the un55d8000, and it will show a graph of how the price moved. Camel tracks Amazon, but there is a sister site for best buy and one for newegg.

I just checked Amazon... I guess it is sort of weird... but seems to me that Each of the new TV's is listed at $300-400.00 below MSRP...

I keep telling myself that I will not be spending another $2800.00 on a TV like I did with my Samsung LN52u650....but the Force is strong in those TV's.....

Official prices announced. http://www.samsung.com/us/news/newsR...type=localnews

55ES7100 - $3,149, available March 2012

That's almost twice what the 55D7000 is going for.

Will the 55d7000 start selling like hot cakes now that the people waiting for the new models to come out will not pay that much? Like me.. I want the 7000 or the 8000 series but so many flash lighting and clouding issues... Now looking at the LG LM7600 or 6700 series. Anyone else?

I don't want to stray from the thread title but yes I'm looking at the LG 6700, 7600, and the 8600. The reviews from these sets are just short of amazing. I'm having a hard time finding real world comps between the model differences and comps to Samsungs latest offerings.
