Just bought the ES8000 from best buy. I called my local best buy to see if they had any, she said they have one each at 2 stores locally. I thought, oh ok they are probably show units but ill try anyway. I walked in at the perfect time. They got one in and just opened the box when I asked the guy if I could have it. All he did was cut the tape on the top of the box, the stand wasnt even removed yet (its on the top). He ended up selling it to me. Got some pics if anyone is interested.
Anyway. Im now selling my UN46B8500. Works graet, I have all original packaging and boxes. Im not sure what to sell it for yet. Even though the set is a couple years old, it has maybe a year (or less) worth of use because Ive been out of the country several times since i bought it.
a samsung service rep at my house on my d6400 said there was a few along top and bottom and a couple in corners? not sure how true this is but is what i was told

These tv's come with an IR blaster to use, but from what I have read and seen, the equipment you use has to either be samsung or compatible with the anynet function, so if you have some type of stb like motorola, etc. it's probably gonna be useless and your gonna have to use the device's remote.

Well, what do u think...wait for the reviews....for me, it's either the 65 es800 or sony 65 hx929...Im patiently waiting....dunno for how long though... I want a tv now!!
Ca someone with the es8000 put their settings up. I bought the store display, complete with the stickers saying "new arrival" and "new model". The brightness was all the way up. I don't think that's usually how they come out of the box. I've been messing with it but can't hit the sweet spot.

The D8000 colorimeter-calibrated settings in my sig might work, but there's a lot of variance even among the same models.
The AVS HD709 image is free and can be burned to a DVD in blue ray format. There are brightness and contrast animated test patterns that are awesome. Directions on how to use them are in the slides. No equipment needed for that part of the calibration.

That is REALLY disappointing. Has anyone read in the manual if that is 100% accurate? I was happy when they mentioned that it would be included at CES, but not it seems like a total waste if it doesn't work with my crap TWC box. And I could have sworn that last year at CES or this year they were talking about how we were finally going to be able to ditch our cable boxes with the new samsungs. What happened to that?

Well, I remeber reading some site that said the blaster will only work with samsung products. here is a you tube link on the tv...Goes into a lot of detail on the new es8000.. If you goto 5:20, the guy talks briefly about the ir blaster

the ir blaster is for controlling set top boxes dvd blu ray players etc... NOW THE TV will change dish or direct boxes other than that however, yes it is for SAMSUNG PRODUCTS ONLY. hence any type box plugged into a samsung recievere will still change the box.
Just got an email from samsung support telling me about the new upgrade to make voice control easier and more effective, and a very useful demonstration guide to use it. really good cs, especially since my pn60e8000 just shipped this morning !!

When I had my D8000, Anynet+ worked pretty well over HDMI-ARC with my Yamaha AX-3000 receiver, and my Panasonic Blu-Ray player. It's pretty cool- makes the Samsung remote control almost everything. The only problem I had was that the buttons didn't map perfectly to the Blu-Ray player... skip back/fw was instead FF/RW.
hey guys, I know this is the es8000 thread, but I just got a call from kw international, my pn60e8000 will be here monday , sweet. Now the onlt problem is , do I want the pn64e8000 or the un60es8000/7500 for the living room. Hoping for more reviews in the unxxes8000

This review is from: Samsung UN55ES8000 55-Inch 1080p 240Hz 3D Slim LED HDTV (Silver) (Electronics)
I attended the consumer electronics show in Las Vegas and saw this model 2 months ago. It is their flagship model. At the show I had already seen the Samsung's OLED TVs, and some of the 4K Ultra definition TVs. When I saw the Samsung ES8000 (75 inch size), I could not believe how well it looked both in picture and bright colors. It has a technology called Micro Dimming Ultimate. The TV had great contrast. I cannot comment on how it looked in a darkened room or a black screen, but this TV was the best picture I saw at the show from a regular 1080p LED TV, and I saw all the high end TVs at the show. It was a beautifully designed set as well. The 75 inch model I saw will be coming out later this year.
i see there was a firmware update today for the es8000. Ive tried getting it through the internet and USB and cant get it to work. I get a timeout error when i try to get it through the internet. When i installed it to a thumb drive and unzipped it, it doesnt even see it.
Is there a special port i should be using? I have firmware 1008 right now, I downloaded 1012 just now.
Right now Im not happy with this TV. The B8500 from a couple years ago is still better than the picture on this TV. Now that Ive had it for a couple days, its as obvious as the day is long. I was reading a review somewhere that the 1012 update made a huge difference. Im holding out hope
same question to you: have the tv the same banding problem like the previous models?
it would be a shame if samsung don't get the problem under control. we talk about a tv that costs 2800€ (3500$). here in germany the tv will be released by the end of march and no one retailer has the tv for showcase...
ha. I think out of frustration I found a service tool. I was holding down the return button (maybe the exit button i wasnt paying much attention) for about 15 seconds or so. A box popped up saying it was going to run an internal diagnosis. Check basic connection and signal levels and several other things.
It did its thing but diddnt turn up any info of use.
yea, at least i think mine does. Thats why i was hoping to get this update and download the grayscal and test it out.
