Hi everyone. New to the forum, but thought I should go ahead and join because I'm getting ready to buy a new TV. Right now, it is between the Samsung UN46ES6500 and the Sony BRAVIA KDL46HX750. It's come down to those sets due to: price, size, active 3d, led, and review scores. Based on the reviews I've read, what I've read on this forum, and what I've seen of both screens in person at Best Buy, I want to want the Samsung. I think it looks better than the Sony set.
But here's my problem. In the last two years:
I've bought two Samsung LCD monitors. One died prematurely.
My father in law bought a Samsung led (not sure of the model) 46" tv. It is currently dying. He has been told it isn't worth fixing.
A friend bought a Samsung LCD monitor. It died.
So I have some serious reservations about the durability of Samsung screens. If that wasn't an issue, it would be Samsung hands down.
So I'm curious if anyone here has some longer term experience with Samsungs that might just show my family and friends have just had bad luck with them.
Also, my plan currently is to wait until Black Friday/Cyber Monday to see if any good deals come along. Am I wasting my time? Should I expect good deals on sets like these?
