what do you prefer for a screen? Matte finish or Glossy?

With TV in a very well lit room, i.e. many windows, a matte screen is the only way to go. Highly reflective screen can making viewing very distractive trying to watch in daytime or when overhead lights on at night. Trading a little less sharpness Vs view-ability is a no-brainier for me.

Matte.

Although glossy looks cool when TV is off

But the point maybe moot as for some reason, vendors are making lots more glossy than mattes.

I'll never buy a matte screen again, unless for a very bright room. I had no idea the matte screen was so destructive to IQ until i got a non-matte screen.

screen coatings only matter when watching TV with ambient light

at nighttime with or without a bias light, it makes no difference

i have samsung un55d7000 with bright room and i can tell you its pretty annoying the glare off the tv.. its a glossy screen... so i have to try a matte screen.. and see for myself.. although every review i have seen it seems like samsung has overall better picture quality as compared to LG..

Matte

The matte screen I have (Vizio xvt553sv) does not eliminate all the glare, but it reduces it by a very large amount and it is so much better than the glossy screen tv I had.

If it reduces the quality of the picture, I sure don't see it. My picture looks great.

Perfect IQ does not matter if all you can see is a reflection of your windows.

It's not like you have a choice anymore.
