Yes.

The darker vertical bands that appear on both sides of the screen near the edges, about an inch or so in from each side.

Did they admit that was a defect of the screen and that a replacement panel would alleviate the issue?

Or is that something that just there on all of the 90"s?

Thanks!

I was confused by the term banding. I thought banding referred to visible gradient lines in TV screen colors from darker to lighter or vice versa. They acknowledged a return only for the orange on white pics - not the dark on green.

What the hell are you looking down here for?!

Congratulations on getting the issue resolved.

So I guess they haven't or they've chosen not to respond to you regarding the darker "bands" down the sides of your tv as being a defect?

I sent Sharp BOTH series of pics - green and white. They said it was within their 'whatever' and they would not fix it. So, I asked about the orange on white pics and they said that there was nothing in their notes about orange on white lines. So, then I sent them only the shots with the orange. That's when I got the approval. I hope this is clear.

Responding to an old thread, but I will be buying either the 90le745u or the 90le657u for my living room in the next 60-90 days. Seating is 16-17 feet from the screen so 4k really isn't important. I realize that the 745u is the older model, but does have the same built in audio as the 657u? I have read conflicting information on various sites that maybe the 657u doesn't have the same separate stereo speakers and built in sub that the 745u has. I will not be running separate audio with this unit and, all things being [almost] equal, I'd rather have the 745u if the built in audio is better. Yes, blasphemy, I know. Any clarity would be appreciated. Thanks

Davecraze, I bought a 90le657 on Thanksgiving 2013 and it broke Thanksgiving 2015. I watch it maybe 5 hours per week so it has about 500-600 hours on it. Repair thought it was the motherboard but put in a new one and discovered that it is a problem with the edge lighting. Can't fix it because the lighting is part of the screen. Called Sharp and they no long make the lighting/screen in the US and wont ship one from overseas. Just bought myself a $7000 anchor.
The repairman said sharp has so many problems with the motherboards. Even BestBuy here in Houston carries only to Sharp models.
I researched this tv for 6 months and was hesitant because I wanted a 90". To be fair I'm still waiting to hear back from Sharp but I'm sure I'm screwed.
Will update when I hear from Sharp.

What exactly was your problem? I am noticing the vertical line on the right side. It has gotten much darker over the years. Not sure what I can do. I do notice a bright orange hue on white backgrounds.
