I currently have a samsung LN52A650 that has a vertical line out, and I was thinking of upgrading to the new samsung UNxxES8000 series. But I can not tell if the jump would be worth the cost ($2500+). I realize the specs have a huge jump.

Has anyone made this kind of jump, and if so was the picture quality difference dramatic?

thank you!

I made the jump fron the LN46A750 to the UN55ES7500. I still need to calibrate the picture, but it does have a better picture. I had the same problem as you but I had the BB warranty. They gave me a $1199 credit towards another TV. Well worth it!

Just go with the LN46A850 refurb for just under $800 from BB online site. The picture is still better than any new set ive seen in terms of color/refresh rate.
