The power/ standby light no longer lights at all, TV on or off. There still is not an option for this in the settings menu like there used to be.

I unplugged and reset the TV and tried all of the above after each.

This is update 05.00.10 and it came on a flash drive!

I still want my options back but I guess we are making some progress, now just to make sure it doesn't happen in the future also.

And they want the flash drive back LOL ! They can have it.

Let me know if I covered all the bases or if I missed something.

Copied already but the file is over 300MB and it won't update this version again once it is on the TV.

I get a kick out of LG wanting the 4g flash drive back, they are a dime a dozen these days. If they want it they can have it.

Hey everyone, I need some av help. I just ordered an 8600 and need some av help. I want to keep it as basic as possible so I prefer my system to include:

TV
Soundbar
Blue ray player

I do not plan to get cable and for simplicity I would also like to not have a receiver. After some basic searching around it seems that it is smarter to plug both the soundbar and blue ray into the tv via hdmi. This would allow my to keep my blueray off while using the netflix opttion on the tv and also allow for optimal sound without a receiver because the tv doesn't offer some sort of pass through (or something like that). Basically I'm having an issue finding the right soundbar. I was keen on the Sony CT260 because of it's awesome reviews but it lacks hdmi. If anyone can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it. Bluetooth is also a + so I can stream music from my phone.

Thanks for your help.

I just got my 47LM8600 in the mail. I'm very happy with the purchase but there is one little downside... Every time I open Picasa it just says "The request cannot be processed." is there a fix for this? I was looking forward to using Picasa on this TV.

Owners of the LG 47LM8600 TV beware. LG has discontinued this TV due to all of the problems with it. Mine is still in warranty but LG will not fix, replace or upgrade my TV (yes I would have spent more money so not asking for a freebee). They have since taken the firmware off the support website and it doesn't look like the are going to do anything about the problems with this TV. It doesn't have a FULL WEB BROWSER as advertised. they are deleting options from the settings menu and I've had to initialize my apps more than once since they sent me a FIXED firmware update version 05.00.10 the one on the website was 05.00.00.
They didn't discontinue the LM6700 series, I guess they don't have problems like the LM8600 series. Buyer Beware I will never buy an LG product again as they don't stand by the product they sell !!!

Here is the reply from the BBB who is probably in Bed with LG in Alabama.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this may have caused Mr. E and his family. In regards to the specifications of the unit, our website clearly states that "design, features and specifications are subject to change without notification. " Mr. E complaint was that he wanted the LOGO light to turn off. The update that we provided turns the LOGO light off. Unfortunately, we will not be able to offer any type of alternate resolution.

Wait a second---I'm getting you confused with someone else. I understand that they put a new upgrade (.14) on their website that you saw later, but was your primary problem the logo light and was that solved with the .10 on the USB or not? Does the .14 bring back the bug?

My brother has the LW6500, a 2011 model, and he is still receiving upgrades on a regular basis. Unlike Sammy's, LG does continue to support their panels.

recently i started noticing there's a tiny green dot appears on my screen. i took a picture of it. the actual green dot appears as a very very tiny line without the glow as thick as the picture is shown. can anyone please tell me if my screen is cracked behind the glass or the effected green pixel has been fractured? thanks.

File never fully expands for me on 3 different computers.
Used winXP, Win7 and Mac always get unexpected error, or unexpected end of file.

use 7-zip to expand the file. make sure it goes in folder "LG_DTV" on usb drive.

LOGO light is off for now there are other issues with this TV I'm having problems with, LG just doesn't want to address them and basically told me to go screw!

That just goes to show Sammy puts out good firmware and doesn't have to keep fixing it because LG's firmware is garbage

Does the new FW give you full control over the LG logo light? I prefer it on when the TV is on. But who knows if I were to mount it in the future and it happened to be in direct site.

The LOGO light will only stay on (low, med, high) when the TV is off, does not come on while the TV is on.

Other problems are it is not a "Full Web Browser" as advertised (can not update flash, java ,etc...) which limits websites you can go to. The power/ standby light no longer exists, having to initialize the apps constantly having to set everything up over and over, network dropping while no other equipment has a problem connecting to the same network, says it has "LG remote service" but LG doesn't use it and more. This doesn't include having to take the screws out of the back with a vise grip it has been taken apart so many times. I'm sure I missed some stuff but it just starts getting me pissed off.

File is currupt 7-zip can't open open it either!
This shouldn't take a hacker to open! Why would LG post such a difficult file?

I had the corrupt file too I contacted LG and told them to fix their junk firmware
they have such bad software engineering it's pathetic, it's been the source of
all of my problems..... I knew changing motherboards wouldn't solve any of the
problems that why I didn;t let the morons tear my tv apart...It's sad I had to start
a petition to get these sleaze buckets to turn a light off for us ,now they need to fix
the rest of the problems with their crappy firmware or their going to have to talk to
a judge.

Downloaded the file at work and it expanded fine.
Installed it and light is allways off now. I kinda liked it before with it on low when the TV was on.

It should be on with the tv on and off all the time when set to off but LG can't engineer software
which resulted in this half a$$ attempt to fix the problem they caused in the first place ...

This is not accurate....unless everyone is still getting different results.

Obviously, people will want different things and I still think LG should give us firmware which allows us to set things they way we prefer....

The newest firmware allows me to do exactly what I want with my logo light.
It is now off when the TV is on.(I do not want a beacon or advertising while I watch TV)
The logo is lit up when I turn the TV off. It is a great nite light, and since my man cave is pitch black and the TV is extended 12" from the wall, on a mount, the light serves me as a safety feature.

Right now...at this point, with the .14 firmware, I have everything I want and my TV is working perfectly.
