Saw this TV yesterday at Brandsmart in south Florida. MSRP is 19999.00 but it is already "on sale" at 13999.00. I couldn't do anything like changing picture mode or even have any access to the menu. It was showing a video about Brandsmart and the best I could get from the salesman was to play a Bluray disk. Unfortunately, the BD was some sort of cartoon that can make any set looking good.
This is what I could learn based on the LG leaflet glued to the TV:
-It's 4K, no questions.
-It has some kind of "premium sound" where the speakers fire from the back. The speaker are really big for a TV set.
-Off angle viewing is very good, the best I have seen so far for a LED TV.
-Power was plugged on a cheap surge protector, nothing special. I remember talking to a Sony person at a Sony Store and he told me their 84" requires "special instalation"..
-Black level was good, much better than the Sony. It seems that Sony blacks are always bluish, on any TV I have seen so far, including the 84".
About the price: Someone mentioned the Qualia 006 that was sold for 13K and had a huge fan club here. If people paid that kind of money in 2005, for a set that is not even close to this LG, why wouldn't they pay to have this fantastic TV ? Sony is twice the price and I didn't find it any better. Most of us here can't expend that dough on a TV but to expect it to be below 10k is not realistic.
