Hey guys... first post here but I have been lurking this thread forever. Thanks to all in here for making this tv so enjoyable.

With that said someone posted a few pages back that their Amazon streaming app stopped working (just loads grey screen) after the latest Smart Hub update. Well my smart hub updated today and now I have the same problem. Anybody ever figure this out?

I do not understand this annoying microdimming feature. You work hard to get your brightness and black levels optimally controlled to your preference, and then all of a sudden the picture becomes way too dark and you can hardly see. Then it goes back and forth to bright again. Is it just too much to ask to have a fixed picture that looks good? Can this microdimming feature somehow be disabled in the service menu? And it seems to happen on certain shows like Good Wife, Mentalist, and other CBS dramas. Not on commercials and live sports and news broadcasts. Don't understand how it works but would like to turn it off. Bad feature.

Bought the 4 year extended warranty from BB today, with 2 days to spare. I've had the TV for about 2 months now and have clouding on the lower area, more to the left it seems. Not sure if i want to live with it, or have it looked at. Been following along with these posts and hear good and bad things. Not sure how many hours are on my set, but i don't see it improving. Well, if i do nothing, i at least have the warranty now if something major does happen.

Just a pic of my 7100 with bias lighting. Wall pant is yellow/gold with light samples behind it. Low light. Dish SD feed of UFC.

If its an issue, you shouldn't wait.

With the F series about to be released, Quality ES replacement parts will become scarce.

I am getting Samsung service next week, so my advice is what I'm doing.

I figured this out. Make/select the Hulu app to be active. Then press Tools button. This will bring up a menu screen. On the menu screen select Reinstall and then the Ok/Enter button. This will reinstall the app. After the installation is complete, try running the app again. On my TV, the Amazon app now works correctly.

Yes, I have experiences with both.

Samsung is a year + 3 months if you register at Samsung Support online.

Its free and Direct, Best Buy has to get parts from Samsung.

An eventual Samsung replacement can be an improvement...Best Buy will downgrade you.

Once in a while my 60" 7100 will get these green Matrix like lines on peoples faces and wording just after turning the set on. If I turn the TV off and back on again these lines are gone. I think this happens just after a firmware or smart hub update. Anyone else seen this problem on their 7100 series TV?

You don't mention if you have an AV receiver or sound bar. If your answer is no then you will miss out on the quality of the sound will playing anything on your BD player (especially a blu ray disc). The speakers on these TVs are at best just adequate.

i don't but i'm in the market for both. blu ray, then sound bar, then receiver is the plan, but i would like to decide on all before i purchase any if I should

Local repair tech called today and stated there was a "delay" in the "part" ordered.

They said they would call Monday with an update, and a new repair date.

Translation: They can't find a new ES7100 panel and don't know if they will get one.

Sounds like the F8000 exchange just got a little closer to being an option.

Have you updated to 1029 yet?

I really love the picture settings you have. They're pretty much immaculate. I was just wondering if you do update please post the new setting here.

Thanks!

No green lines, yet I have seen a few vertical and horizontal lined artifacts.

I have a UN60ES7150. Received the unit with FW 1026, updated to 1027 and experienced random shut off issues. Then updated to 1029 via the Network, not USB.

Ever since I upgraded to 1027/1029 it has been showing: Updated Firmware has been released!

I can neither click on go update, or close the box.

Any ideas how to get this to stop popping up every time I turn on the TV?

I am using FW 1013.0 and seems to be ok.

Will i get better picture quality if I upgrade to FW 1026.1, 1027.0 or 1029.1?

I play a lot xbox 360 games... as well...will any of these newer updates effect game play?

Is it best to stay on FW 1013.0 or would you upgrade?

I will not be connecting my tv to the internet for smart Hub or online use.

Do movies look better in Movie mode or standard mode? Right now I have it in standard mode and they look great.

Thank you... any input much appreciated.

I went to the App Store and downloaded the app for my iPad. There were two from samsung. My first impression is very limited info, not very intuitive and it took several tries to get the app to open up to the remote control. Once it opened up, I can see how it could be useful. This is especially true if you don't have a keyboard. If you are using the smarthub a lot I would think the app would be a plus. I don't know if you ever tried typing with your remote, but I found it to be nothing short of frustrating. Me personally, I still find it easier to use my iPad to surf while I'm watching TV. I also have other options for Netflix and other sources so I won't be using smarthub much, but this app may lead me to explore it further. With that being said, it's a free download. Give it a try, you may find it quite useful. This is my $.02 after using the app for about thirty minutes.

Hey PC,

I just tried out your settings. I am not sure if this is the proper way the tv should look but i feel like with your settings there is a warmer color. And then people in shows do not look as bright as the default standard settings making the image look really dark. It also appears a little washed out. This is the first time i am adjusting the settings so maybe I just need to give my eyes time to adjust to the new settings. Is there any other recommendations you have?

I suggest you could get FW 1026 from Samsung support (use USB) :

http://www.samsung.com/us/support/owners/product/UN55ES7100FXZA

I wouldn't update to 1029... Movie mode is the best, in my opinion.

I updated a while back:

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1414638/official-samsung-unxxes7100-thread/1950#post_22943484

The main changes are:

Dynamic - same as Movie except: Color: 40, Color tone: Standard, no Advanced settings

Natural – same as Movie except: Color: 40, no Advanced settings

Standard – same as Movie except, Color: 44, Color Space: Auto, no -10p White Balance

Try changing the Color Temperature , Warm 1 looks right to me.

Also try turning the Backlight up....
