Yes mines still dead for now. LG set up a repair for Friday. I will keep everyone updated on the problem. I get sound and the edge lighting comes on for a second but no picture, no menu, no LG symbol at power up, just black screen.

I have a 60LS5700. I am having a minor annoyance with it. When I pause a show for a period of time the speaker system switches back to the sets speaker from my external speaker system. I keep going back into the menu and switch it back to the external speaker. Anyone know if I can do anything to stop it from doing this or is it just a quirk of the set?

Crap. That doesn't exactly bolster my confidence. But mine is still plugging along.

Ditto that... frown.gif

Okay mines up and running again. They replaced one of the boards. As I found from the youtube video I watched it was actually a Sharp board. The repair man seemed to be surprised. The good news is he told my wife our set was one of the best pictures he has seen. He likes LG's..

I got an firmware update today, on 47LS5700, I forgot take down which version. My network connection is wired ethernet.

After upgrade is done, power off and power on again. There are some new agreement pop up need to be viewed and agreed. Then I watched your tube a a while (20 min...), then TV is dead. No picture and sound at all.

When connecting a power cable / poweron with remote, there is 1 long RED, followed by 2 short RED, then LED is dead.

Any idea ?

Hi Guys,

I have a problem with my LG LED 47LS5700 TV: BLANK SCREEN / SOUND OK

1) The sound working well
2) There is no picture but the backlight is working, because I can see the light --> Blank (black) Screen, not white
3) I replaced the T-CON Board --> Ref: 6870C-0401B / Programmed by a supplier for 47" size screen
4) I checked All Capacitors on the Power Supply Board - everything look perfect (not blowing, not leaking)), I replace a couple of them to be sure in case of..
5) I measure all FUSES on this Power Supply--> OK !
6) I measure All diodes --> OK !
7) I measure All Output voltage as printed on the Power suply Board: 24V, 3.5V... : OK !

Do you have any advice, What can I check ?

Many Thanks for your attention and Help !!

Cheers

Tao

I'm running into the same backlight problems reported on this forum. Had it repaired the first time while it was still under extended warranty from Costco and 18-months later it's back again. Obviously backlight related, as if I take a flashlight to the screen you can still see images. Good TV otherwise, very irrated as with no moving parts this thing should have like at least a 10 year life, not 3 years!!!

Digging this thread from the grave:
I recently fine-tuned the picture settings and noticed I can now enable Local Dimming.
Anyone else?

Hey Tom (and others).

Care to share your picture settings for this set? I picked one up cheap and fixed it (reflowed the T-Con) and can't stand the motion blur... just looking for some help with all the settings.

Anyone can jump in here...

Thanks in advance. I appreciate it.

Take care,

Gregg

I use these ones: Official LG 42LS5700/47LS5700/55LS5700/60LS5700 Owners Thread
Pretty good for beginning, u may tweak a little bit for your environment
Most important: I set the TrueMotion to User and value = 0
And below the settings which are missing or I used
Backlight 65 (you may have to set it higher or lower)
LED Local Dimming High
TrueMotion User 0

Cheers
Tom

Thank YOU Tom. I just scrolled back enough and found them... but I didn't know if there were 'newer' ones that anyone found (I see these were from 2012). I will take your advice on the True Motion... I'm sure mine isn't set to 'User' and '0', so that's likely where my blur issue is coming from... at least I hope so. Not at home now to try.

I like the set so far, and the wife loves it... so I'm good to go, just needs some tweaking. Still shots look amazing. LG makes a darn nice panel... and this coming from a 'Sony guy'!

Thanks again and take care,

Gregg

Hey Tom,

I adjusted the 5750 the other night and it's gorgeous! WOW! Many thanks to you and Tezzmin for the suggested settings. Awesome picture!

The only thing I couldn't find was the LED Local Dimming... any hints??? How important is that and how much of an effect do you think it has on the picture? Just curious, still learning here.

Thanks again. Take care,

Gregg

I cannot tell you when it was added with a firmware update, last week I played with the settings and saw it as option.
For example "De-Blur" is now missing from my options.
However I have an Asian model, maybe it was only added for these models.
Since I set the "Local Dimming" to high, I have better blacks

Ok, thanks for letting me know. I'm quite happy with the picture quality right now (haven't watched a blu-ray yet), so I'll likely just leave mine the way it is!

Now if I could only get my new Sammy UN65J6200 to look as good. The settings listed on rtings.com don't make it look too great. Nowhere close to my LG.

Take care,

Gregg

Guys,

I finally got the LG TV connected to my Wi-Fi and keep getting the notices to upgrade the software (or firmware) on the TV... should I accept??? What does the upgrade do? Just improve menu functions and speed? I'm assuming nothing to do with picture quality.

Just asking what folks are doing here, as I thought I read some were having issues after installing upgraded SW/FW. Maybe I'm incorrect.

Please give a shout here when time permits. Thanks in advance for the advice!

Loving this set so far... great picture!

Which software are you currently on.
I haven't seen an update for long time, however I also never saw a changelog..
The last update was posted to the LG website on December 12, 2014

Sorry... I should have posted that. I will check and post tonight.

Now that I connected the TV to my home Wi-Fi... I keep getting the messages popping up asking to update... Aarrrrrggh!

Also, was there a contract 'dispute' (for lack of a better term) with LG and Youtube? The YT app on the TV does not launch/work... is there a reason why???

Thanks for your time. Will update post tonight with SW version. The guy I bought the set from said it was working up to a few months ago, maybe he didn't update it that much... or at all.

Tom,

Looks like I am running SW version: 06.00.01

I turned the SW update option to 'off' for now... at least until I know if I should take the latest update or not. The set is working very well, so I don't want to mess with it...

Please let me know your thoughts when time permits. Thanks!

Can anyone comment here so I know if I should accept this download, and why? Will the tv 'look better' or will the updated SW just help menus, etc.???

Thanks much.
