Hi everyone.

I've been trying to sort out all the differences between all of the Sharp 70's out there, and it's proving to be quite a task. It's not like the 80 inchers where you have 1 or 2 models to choose from. They're simply so many sets in the 70 inch department, that I'm having an extremely hard time finding the one that is considered best amongst enthusiasts. If it even exists. I've browsed through countless posts here and in all honesty, I'm probably more confused than when I first started.

I don't really care for 3D, I'm not against it but it's not a big deal to me. Good 2D is really want I'm after.

If you consider price and image quality, which set do you guys think offers the best deal? Which is the overall best 70" to get in your opinion?

1. Sharp LC-70LE632U
2. Sharp LC-70LE732U
3. Sharp LC70LE733U
4. Sharp LC-70LE734U
5. Sharp LC-70LE735U
6. Sharp LC70LE640U
7. Sharp LC70LE847U 3D
8. Sharp LC70LE745U 3D

Thanks for reading.

I was looking at the Sharp 70 for a while (ultimately got the LG 65" because Sharp 70 was just too big for our living room). I knew there were different models, but not this many. Basically I got down to choosing between the 632 (cheapest), 735U(last years model with 3D and Quattron and Aquatron 240 refresh), and 734U(this years model with 3D but only 120 refresh).

Ultimately I would have gone with the 734U since its the best balance of price and features. The added yellow from the Quattron wasn't that big of a deal when I looked at it in a store, and never really saw any issue of having only 120Hz. And I like having 3D as an option. My LG has 3D, and is pretty good. Not much 3D content out there, but every once in a while a good looking movie comes out.

Good luck.

The first 5 models listed are last year's sets. Still some on the market.

The biggest issue I had with these 1st generation 70" sets was that the backlighting used resulted in a darkening of the image in each of the 4 corners.

This apparently doesn't bother many owners, but it was a deal breaker for me.

Sharp's new models have changed the backlighing scheme and appear to have eliminated these dark corners.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Still don't know which way to go. Sometimes I feel like just buying the 80 and calling it a day, but with so many 70's being literally have the price, I can't justify it.

Thanks again.

You're going to see yet another 70" sharp coming out this summer, model LC-70LE945U. While I'm sure the 70LE945U won't be a "deal" per se, I think it might come in at the top price point, I think it'll for sure be the best in terms of PQ, being a new model full array with local dimming.

my .02...

they are certainly not too easy to come by currently, however, and im picking which small vendor i want to fight with to get one :/
