Hey everyone,

I've been working with Samsung service department for a bit - but figured I would investigate on my own as well.

448

This is my display showing an 80% black image from my computer.

I'm not satisfied - obviously. Should I attempt the suggested in home service (covered under warranty) from Samsung or should I just exchange it?

Second question - since I'm curious - any thoughts on the cause?

Does you Samsiung have local dimming?
Your image appears to only contain only the backlighting which can vary when no actual video is being displayed.
Do you see the problem when displaying video?
Have you tried lowering the backlighting percentage?

it does have local dimming.

I do see it with video. This image is actually with the back light turned down pretty significantly.

I thought so since the stripes look they are caoused by incorrect loca dimming valuies for every other zone.
Do you have any way to adjust or disable the local dimming? If so what effect does reducing it or disabling it have?
