What's up with that?

I have tried both wireless and wired mice. With normal picture modes there is a slight lag on doing something basic like moving the mouse around on the Windows desktop.

I turn on the game mode and all the lag goes away.

What makes that happen?

Is it safe to just leave the TV in game mode all the time?

Game Mode usually turns off most of the processing on a TV. Since processing takes time, it creates lag. You can run a TV in any mode you want. It will just add or disable features depending on the mode.

So if I just go an calibrate the colors on the game mode to match the other modes I have all set up I really wont notice a difference?

I turn off all the processing I can in the other modes but only game mode gets rid of the mouse lag.
