Picked up one of these on clearance at Best Buy for $791. At first I was extremely impressed by the picture, until I hooked up my HTPC... When the picture is fully white the whole right edge (3"-4" into the screen from top to bottom) looks horrible, almost pinkish. I can see dark spots and banding on the right side when watching hockey games. I spent a lot of time adjusting the picture last night and it was noticeable regardless of the brightness. The top left has it a little bit as well, but not as bad as the right side. The odd thing is that I didn't see much flashligting during dark scenes, but when watching this TV during light scenes the right side issues are very noticeable. I'll be exchanging this for another one and will post back the differences.

I got the Panasonic SC-HTB10 soundbar before I even had the set delivered. Found one on CL for $75, it sounds great. You can defintely hear a difference, its not like a 5.1 system or anything, but just a nice 2.1.

Sounds like you have the opposite problem of flashlighting, when there isn't enough light it will become pink, think negative film, less light = pink. Are you going to return it?

I exchanged it for a new one at Best Buy. Pretty easy to do. Best Buy just plugged in the old one to verify that it turned on, however they didn't check to see the issue that I was having. The sent me on my way with a new TC-L55ET5. I'm very happy with the new one. The picture is incredible! I can't wait to watch a Blu Ray on this thing... I still notice some issues such as the dirty screen effect, especially during moving white screens like Hockey, but apparently that's an issue on all thin flat panel LED's.

I've now had the set for about a month, and I'm still very happy with it. The only thing that gave me fits was getting the ARC to work right, but that was user error more than anything else. Now I can use the built-in apps and send the audio back to my receiver with no issues. It's funny I went through all that work and I'm not using the "Smart" features anyhow. I should have known better. smile.gif I love the fact that I have over a dozen pairs of glasses, and I had the neighbor's family over the other night and watched How to Train Your Dragon 3D with plenty of glasses for everyone to enjoy it. I replaced an active Sony that I still only had 4 pairs of glasses for 2 years later.

Picture wise, I'd like a little deeper blacks, but know this isn't a plasma. The picture on my Sony 40HX800 is a little superior, but not all that much. The picture on this set just isn't quite as sharp. I don't seem to have any flashlighting issues, but I do notice the dirty screen effect when there is no signal. It completely disappears once there's actually content.

Overall, I'm very happy with this set and would recommend it.

I have owned this TV now for almost a yr. I never had a problem with it, just googled the model # for the current price, i pd. $800 for it several months ago.
Anyway, this TV freakin ROCKS!! The picture is very , very good, i get compliments regarding the picture quality everytime someone new comes over.
So, all you videophiles need to seriously chill with all the negativity about this TV.
This is definitely the best TV i have ever owned and with the wireless capabilities that is just icing on the cake!!
So if you are a regular user and not a complete videophile who just nitpicks about picture quality, you will love this TV!!

I agree, have had this for a year now and have been incredibly pleased. The picture may not be perfect but it's really good and the flaws are rarely noticeable.

There was a software update a week or so ago that took quite a while to download and install but I haven't noticed any difference in anything I use on the TV. Anyone know what the update changed?

I just picked up a sony KBR70R550A because I wanted a large 3D tv upstairs. It's PQ is great, but the black levels and dynamic contrast are much better on the ET5. I just can not get the Sony to look as good as the ET5 in the luminous forest in Avatar. I might return the sony in the hopes Panasonic comes out with a 65" or 70" passive 3D set in 2014. Because I think I am just a fan of Panasonic's panels.

Sony KDL-70R550A (passive 3D tv)
Denon x4000 (amazing sound correcting software)
Klipsch RF-62IIs (amazing horns)
Klipsch RC-62II (so clear)
Klipsch RS-41IIs (so full)
SVS PC12-NSD + Klipsch RW12d (so boom)
