Do you recommend buying this TV (XBR-65HX950) directly from or buying from other online vendors to save on sales tax? I am leaning towards because of the potential ease of exchange/return if the TV arrives damaged. Thoughts?

Buy it from whatever website you want, just make sure it's a reputable website. Plenty of websites have great return/exchange policies. has very great customer service, as well as a few other sites. I am all for buying online and saving money. I do it all the time.

Having said that, on a TV as large as you want and for that expensive of a model, I might almost bite the bullet, pay a little more and buy it locally, if somewhere like Best Buy carried it. For something that large and expensive, it would be very nice to be able to drive it right back to the store if you don't like it or have some kind of a problem. Packing something like that up and having to ship it back and wait is something I wouldn't want to deal with on an item that large and expensive.

Of course, I got it modified with the TK-427, which cheeks it up another, maybe, 3 or 4 quads per channel.
