Ok after finally settling on this set I have a problem....

The sound all of a sudden drops and starts again.... It does it quick and it's not constantly it does it quite often though. It's very annoying....

More information.

TV : 40inch ES6800
Home Cinema : SAMSUNG HT-E4500

The kit is plugged in by optical to the tv and HDMI cable.

Have change optical cable also change home cinema system just hope tv is not faulty...

I don't understand if the problem is the TV or the Samsung HT system?
When this problem occurs? When you watch TV programs or blu-ray movies?

What if you remove the optical cable and load a blu-ray disc is the problem still there?

P.S. I would like to ask you why you need the optical cable?
Do you watch digital TV programs and listen the sound on the HT system? You don't really need the optical cable, you can use only the HDMI cable which must be connected to the HDMI 2 port on your TV. Only the HDMI 2 port have ARC (Audio Return Channel).

Yes I watch freeview HD. Watch blu ray 3d and play Xbox 360 so what your saying is I don't need both optical and Hdmi connected just Hdmi?

Thanks

Finally, confirmation I'm not going mad !

I have had this exact problem between my ES6800 and my HT-5500 ( issue was also evident with my D5100 ).

Here's what I've tried to resolve the issue so far :

- Tried connecting via SPDIF
- Tried multiple HDMI cables
- Changed TV input sources
- Firmware upgrades

Still experiencing sudden drops. I thought this was only evident via ARC but it seems to also affect SPDIF connections.

I have a ticket raised with Samsung, this has been ongoing for around a month. I even thought that there could have been some Electro Magnetic Interference causing this problem ! TV is wall mounted.

Anyway, firmware update ( for both TV and HT ) from 05/10/12 stabilised things for a few days then it started again. Yet another firmware update from 10/10/12 and things have stabilised again. This is a strange once. Sammy calling me back for update in 2 weeks.

I would try the latest firmware update. Let me know how you get on ! - I'm glad I'm not the only one here !

Yes, you can connect only via HDMI cable but be careful to connect into ARC HDMI port on TV.

BTW you guys are using HDMI v1.4 cables, correct? If not than that could be the cause but not necessarily.

Also I find very interesting that you both have the same TV model, that can well be TV issue yes.

I have Sony NX TV and all works fine.
