Would u know about what time Amazon starts there BF pricing? 12:01am, 8:00am? ...

Amazon is doing a whole long week of black friday deals. These deals are lightning deals, so each day they list which deals they have, usually with just a hint, like last year the $199.99 42" TCL tv was 42" and "under $200" or something like that. So then you wait for the time the deal starts on the lightning deal page, refresh at exactly the right time, and click add to cart instantly. Then you have 15 minutes to check out with the tv in your cart. After 15 minutes passes, the item is removed from your cart and given to someone on the wait list. Many of these tv's sell within a fraction of a second. As such a lot of people who try to order get nothing, another group gets the tv, and another group gets wait listed. luckily wait lists do often work out for some, as many of the initial grabbers had multiple pc's auto grabbing the items to ensure they got just one.

It's a week long thing. the price will start at the time the lightning deal starts, and won't last more than a second or two. Counting refresh times with ping, maybe 1-2 seconds, but maybe 1/4 of a second to refresh in and click "add to cart"

Yes, this is true, the 42" TCL for $199.99 did sell that fast. It wasn't exactly an AVSforum worthy tv, but it sold fast for the price. I'm not sure how the 60" Vizio will do given that it is a good deal, but is not entirely unbelievable. 50" tv's really are where the budget is this year, as low end junk ones are hitting $300 this black friday. At $688, a 60" tv isn't crazy, clearance 120hz westinghouse lcd's were $699, and at least one 60" plasma has been around $800 a few times, I think the panasonic U50 (lowest end model). Also the panasonic is on amazon's list of good deals, so maybe it will get a nice price drop at some point too. However $688 will still sell this tv super fast because it is a "smart tv" which appeals to customers and it is LED, and not clearance, but a current model tv just released. I'm just hoping it isn't as impossible to get as some other lightning deals have been.

So the odds of me getting one rapidly approaching zero. There is little to no chance I would see the alert and react in seconds. Actually I say there is zero chance of that occurring. This is a goofed up away of selling something imo.

Even if it's in your cart and you've got a 15 minute countdown, the item can still be sold out. It happened to me last year, trying to pick up the 42" TCL for my brother. The message when you add it to your cart and get the countdown, as well as the existence of wait lists, makes it seem like Amazon strictly controls the number of people who can put an item in their cart based on Amazon's inventory. However, as soon as I added the TV to my cart and got that 15 minute countdown, my internet hiccuped. A few minutes later after restarting my modem, the TV was sold out, even though it was still in my cart and the countdown to get the deal was not over.

Moral of the story: Even if you happened to snag the item in your cart, you need to check out AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I angrily called Amazon as soon as it happened, and they were basically like, "Sorry, a message that you need to check out in 15 minutes to get the deal is not a guarantee that we won't run out of stock." I'm still pissed about that.

Hi, new member here. I am ecstatic about this tv. I have done my research and am ready to bite the bullet on this tv at the $688 price range and upgrade from the 32" 720p Vizio I've had since college. I am going to try and get this tv off of Amazon and if that doesn't work out, I'm going to go to schlep it to Wal-Mart around 7:00 on Thanksgiving day with everybody else. The only thing I'm confused about is when exactly the deals will be posted... So if I check Amazon every midnight for the next week, with my 1 click purchase locked and loaded, do I have at least a fair chance at getting one and not having to pay tax? Also, it appears the shipping is free as well so cash and carry, this tv will be $688? This seems like a great deal to me. Anyway, thanks for any clarification and I look forward to contributing and learning a lot more from these forums.

Edit: Does anyone know if Wal Mart will have this same deal online as well as in the store or is it in-store only?

I almost ready to buy this TV, but I am a little concerned about this lip-syncing problem I see popping up everywhere. Does anyone know if this has been solved or can be solved by a firmware update? I see that 1.1.4 seems to be a new update. Also, is the lip-syncing problem only occurring when watching cable? I am only going to be using this TV to watch movies from Netflix or blu-rays (laptop) and gaming.

Yes, only cable. I have no issues with streaming, DVD, Blu Ray or network tv. One person said changing cable boxes stopped it on his set, I haven't tried that yet. I thought the update had fixed it but it came back.

Does this TV has HDMI 1.4 w/ Audio Return Channel? So when I use the app from TV, I still can transfer the sound back to my receiver w/5.1 CH through my speakers.

Sorry, but that's impossible. It's a digital signal with audio and video interlaced.

Yeah, that was me. I changed out DISH's VIP612 DVR/Receiver for the Hopper and that apparently fixed the Lip Sync issue. The next day, I received the firmware update and now I have problems on two Channels ( 184 Animal Planet and 119 Bio ). These two channels wouldn't have any issues for a couple of hours and then the Audio would slowly drift ( not as bad as it did before, I had to really look hard to see it ), then the Audio would Hiccup and and then the Audio be in sync, this would happen about once a day, all the other channals have been good. Weather or not the Firmware update had anything to do with it I cannot ascertain that, I still think it might be a source problem. So far all the BD and DVDs have been perfect and because of that, I'm keeping the E601...............................

You have a much better shot at Wal-Mart than at Amazon. Amazon has maybe 50 sets and they will go in less than a second with hackers using automatic sniping. At least with Wal-Mart, if you are willing and able to camp out early enough you have a much better shot of getting it. At least you will know as soon as you get there to wait in line if you even have a chance.

I have owned this TV for a month now. Like others I noticed the lip sync issue after about week 2, but mine happened on every channel. A power cycle usually cleared it up for about an hour or 2, then it would come back. Not enough of an issue for me to return the TV.

Firmware update 1.1.4 loaded on Tuesday and I haven't had very much issue with lip sync since. Not sure if they coincide with each other, but lip sync hasn't been an issue for a few days now.

9.5/10 on the TV.

Also didn't score at Sam's Club. They handed out tickets before doors even opened. Sadly a bunch of the people were not plus members with an invitation. They were told it's ok, just go sign up for one once inside. Oh well...

Going to try Amazon but Wal-mart might be too crazy

Even after the new software I am noticing a bit of a judder when watching 720p sources and especially network shows such as Modern Family , The Middle. It does it both OTA and on Sat. Mainly when scenes are switching or fast movements. Not sure if I'm the only one anyone else noticed this?

I got there around 4:45 and I was 11th in line...old ladies out there talking junk...almost got into a fight after I jokingly said that I was going to take their spot when they left to go to the bathroom...interesting night and I left with no TV...
