I picked one up this past weekend at Costco. It's at home, still in the box as I had to leave on a business trip later that afternoon. I saw earlier that Costco had sent a bunch of them back to Vizio, but the highest serial number i could find was 45, and they had a large stack of them out on the floor, so this store hasn't sent them back. I guess I'll have to wait and see how this one does. I am appreciative of those of you who have posted your good experiences. The negative talk can sometimes be overwhelming and make a person paranoid.

I love this tv I have it in the bedroom mounted on the wall with a Vizo 2.1 sound bar. This tv has a better picture then the Sharp 70 inch in the living room that was professionally calibrated ! No problems at all would buy another in a heart beat ! biggrin.gif

you dont have to box it up, when i took mine back, i took it off the wall and threw it in the back of the van...pulled right up to the front of the store and had one of the guys help me with it....5 minutes later i was standing in line with a new one....

thoes are just the pre sets, you could change all the settings in the football, movie, baseball, ect settings to be the same and they would all be the same....

I have a 45 also, but everything seems to be going great even though I've only had it running for a bit over a month. It does have those flashlight issues on the lower right/left corners, but it isn't a deal breaker. It seems to be a universal issue, but isn't distracting. In fact, I really don't notice them unless it is white screen or solid light color. Overall, the uniformity of illumination is surprisingly good for a screen of this size.

I forgot to mention that my new 04 serial number set came preinstalled with 1.15, which makes me think it was manufactured in like the last 2 weeks.

Does seem you have one of the newest ones out.

Just asking did all the serial numbers match?

The TV has it in the menu as you know, plus on outside of box, small lable on rear of TV and the small box for the remote even has it.

Don't know if this is the right place to ask, but I'm gonna put this thing on a wall. Is there any consensus on a good flat screen mount? Are those advertised on Amazon sufficient? The price is right.

Check out www.monoprice.com They have great stuff at very reasonable prices. And their on-line tech support is excellent at helping you figure out which product you need.

What am I missing here?

How do we go from previous posts with SN's up to 51 (I have a 50) and now 04 is claimed to be "one of the newest ones out"?

Did the SNs start over?

Depends on size and weight of the TV. Hinged brackets usually have screen size limitations because the bottom part of your TV might come in contact with the wall when the TV is swung out, so be careful. I bought one from Costco that was rated for screen sizes up to 80" and the bottom of the TV still made contact with the wall when swung out.

One caveat, I did purchase a Square Trade extended warranty through Costco even though I bought the TV through Walmart. I think it was around 50 bucks and adds a couple of more years to the warranty. Oddly enough, a lot of Costco employees aren't really well educated on purchasing the warranty for merchandise not bought through Costco, but be persistent, it can be done and is legitimate! I had a Costco employee call Square Trade to finally convince them.

Vizio just called me to let me know they had received the Best Buy receipt I faxed them last Friday (just to get it in their files and have it on record in the event of any issues down the road - I also faxed one to Square Trade).

Anyway, during the course of conversation I found out two things (perhaps what many of you already know):

1) The Serial Number sequence (e.g. SN49, SN50, SN51) represents the week it was built last year 2012 (49th week, 50th week, etc).

So, thrustbucket, whom I quoted in my last post with a SN04, that set was built the last week of January 2013., while mine with SN50 was built in week 50, or the second week of December 2012.

2) According to the rep I spoke with, of all the Vizio E601-A3s "out there", there is a failure rate of "less than 3%")...ergo, 97 of 100 built have no technical issues.

Interesting stuff!

So in other words the sn 04 is the newest one out. Built last week of January 2013.

Can't be January 2012..these TV's didn't come out until October 2012.

I bought the Cheetah mount from Amazon and couldn't be more pleased. For $27, you get a mount that is less than an inch and a half thich, but is very sturdy--the E601-A3 looks like a picture frame once mounted on the wall! Not only that, but they throw in a 10 foot braided HDMI cable and a level to boot! Hard to beat for that price!

Going by my conversation with Vizio this morning, I believe that would be the case.

Which would also answer my question in an earlier post today as to whether the SNs were "starting over".

In effect the answer is "yes" they would apparently begin with SN01 for the first week of January this year, 2013.

In other words, there won't be an SN53. (if someone says they have an SN53, then I'll really be perplexed rolleyes.gif

I got the dreaded BSOD yesterday.

I was home sick from work, watching the movie 2012 on FX or whatever channel it was one, and then when the ground stared caving in, the screen went black from one corner to the other at the same time. It looked really cool when it happened, but I knew the panel had blown, lol.

Called all my local wal-mart's and OOS everywhere.

Walmart.com is sending me a new one, I will post back with what my new S/N is and if it has the new firmware.

gene..thanks for giving us all here that info you got from Vizio..explains a lot.

Did you happen to ask the tech at Vizio why the change in the letters? Another poster asked this here..I was thinking it meant change of the year.

Its WAN for most here and the poster who asked about the difference of them said his is a WAP..I was thinking the WAN with the n meaning year 2012 and WAP with p meaning 2013..just a guess. No use of the letter "O" I suppose because it will also look like a number so they skipped it maybe.

Could be where they are made too...have slightest idea so never replied to the poster who asked.

I have the 04 and it is prefaced with WAP. I would really like to know what it means as well. All the 04's on the pile at costco were WAP while all the 49's were WAN.

Yes, I also have WAN 50, the "N" represents year 2012. She said that "P" would represent year 2013

(I conclude, as you did, they're skipping letter "O" to avoid confusion, probably because it looks too much like the number zero "0" )

So, thrustbucket's SN04, I suspect, would be proceeded by the letter "P as would all sets built this year, 2013.

Yep, you got it.

WAN indicates year 2012...with 49, 50, 51, etc. indicating the production week of the year 2012.

WAP indicates year 2013...01, 02, 03, etc. indicating the week of the year 2013 in which it was produced.

So my set, WAN50, was built the second week of December 2012.

TIP O' THE DAY

If you have a Square Trade Warranty to cover your Vizio E601-A3 and a problem arises needing a warranty repair or replacement (I hope it never does), you'll need to fax your purchase receipt to Square Trade.

Last Friday I faxed my Best Buy receipt to Square Trade, and at the same time to Vizio.

Vizio called me this morning to acknowledge they received it (at my request that I indicated on the fax), and Square Trade also confirms my receipt is now on file with them.

In the event you need their service, you can stay a step ahead by faxing your purchase receipt now instead of when you need to arrange for service.

I did call both of them prior to faxing just to give them a heads-up to look for it.

VIZIO:
PHONE: (877) 698-4946 (1-877-69-VIZIO)
FAX: 949-777-0790

SQUARE TRADE:
PHONE: 1-877-927-7268 (1-877-WARRANTY)
FAX: 866-939-9098
