I wish I had picked this TV up on Black Friday. Those prices were outrageously low. I got mine for $600(with the Tiger Direct Price Match) but I also got a five year extended warranty on it from BestBuy for $120. So I'm guessing the five year warranty with the Black Friday price was below $100. Either way though for the price it was a very good deal for the features the TV has.And at least I know I'm covered for five years.

Although the only HDTV I've ever had an issue with during the first five years was the one TV I did not purchase an extended warranty on. A Westinghouse, and the back light died a few weeks after the one year warranty was up. I still need to trash it since I never got it fixed. It's been sitting in storage now for five years.

Definitely no arc. No big deal if your receiver has hdmi inputs but will absolutely need optical cord if running everything thru tv first.

I was about to pull the trigger from on this from Fry's but thankfully found and read this thread before doing so. For under $600 is there another 42"-47" 120hz 3D television you guys would recommend? This will be going in my mancave and used for gaming. Thanks!

I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this TV set too. I have a LG 42" LCD 42LK520. Wanting to upgrade to a bigger 3D LED screen... How is the Tru-Motion? I heard you cant change its setting. I HATE the soap opera effect. Are you seriously forced to watch movies like that on this set?

you can't really change it, but it's on so low that you don't notice any soap opera effect and I'm VERY sensitive to it. I bought the 55 inch version the other day from costco and it looks fantastic

Just ordered mine today from newegg. They have it for $550 delivered. Create a new account and use coupon code NEWCUSTOMER and save yourself an additional $10! $540 delivered!

Throw in Bill Me Later payment with newegg and don't need to pay the bill until 6 months down the road. No interest as long as you pay the bill within 6 months. There is nothing that can come close to this price for it's features. I really wanted a 3D TV and this will now allow me to get in the game.

Reviews have been fantastic from what I have been reading, and any little complaint can really be overlooked at the price they are selling this TV for. If you want perfection, then you need to spend a lot more money then this.

Will be replacing my 52" JVC hdila TV that I have had for 7 years now. Figured 47" is not to far off from it's size and the picture quality plus 3D features is sure to make up for the difference.

Hope I can save some people money with this post because it was this price that allowed me to purchase it. It was hard enough getting the wife to okay the purchase at this price, anything more and I would not have even brought it up. lol

FYI - Fry's also has the TV on sale for $549 delivered but I went with newegg at $540 after coupon.

So I was in Sam's club the other day and they had a 55" LG 120hz Tru-Motion TV set up. They were playing the Cars 2 DVD in it and it looked sick! It looked so good that it almost looked fake. The picture looked 3D almost. Very hard to explain. I do not know what model number it was but it was amazing looking, although my wife disagreed and thought a more natural TV looked better. Weird!

I wanted an affordable 3D TV as that was the only way I was going to get one. If I could find something cheap enough otherwise I was not really in a need for a new TV.

When I saw that the 47" was available for $550 I jumped on it. I was even more excited thinking the picture was going to look like this 55" TV I saw since they listed mostly the same specs. I did not really know what the soap opera effect meant or what tru-motion even was. It was after reading through this thread that I started to understand it and doing more research on it.

My TV shipped out today so I should have it this week. I have faced the facts it will not have that cool soap opera effect which I was really excited to get, but then I put things into perspective. I am getting a 47" LED 3D TV for $550. What would really be my other option at this price point. So my choice is this TV or no TV. I wouldn't even expect a TV at this price to look anywhere near what I saw.

I think the thing that is the most fustrating about this is that LG advertises it as though it would look like the TV that I saw. If an LG TV is 120hz and has tru-motion then one would think it would have the same type of look on all it's models with this feature. Instead what it sounds like from reading through this thread is that LG really is misleading the public with this TV. They need to sell it for what it is. A 60hz TV with no true-motion. I am sure plenty of us would still buy it but those that can afford to dish out some more money to really get a TV with 120hz and tru-motion then at least they would know what they are getting.

I am excited to receive my TV but I am fustrated to see that I was lied to about my purchase. I was expecting one thing and will technically be receiving something else. I wish we were able to get enough people to overload their FB page and twitter accounts with this complaint. Nothing usually happens unless it is done by the masses.

Update: So as per the link below and this might have been mentioned earlier in thread here is a great article of another LG TV with the same tru-motion issue we have except they were able to actually get LG to upgrade the software!

Not having the Soap Opea effect is a plus. If this Tv had that look with no way to turn it off, i would have returned it. But also having a 120Hz, 240hz, etc Tv does not mean it will have the Soap Opera effect. Only if it does interpolation, creating new frames between the existing ones, will it have the Soap Opera effect.

If there was a way to enable it there would sure be a way to disable it. I still can't believe people don't like the SOE. Unless I just liked it because it was an animated movie showing. Maybe my opinion would be different if it was a regular movie but I don't know, I think it would still be cool.

Anyone see any reason not to upgrade the firmware to the latest one LG has posted on their support page? Any bugs? Anyone notice any differences?

Upgrade is worth it, cuts the annoying 3d prompt on start up. I see no changes in picture, and audio.

With the newer firmware for me, everytime I start a 3D movie I get a 3D nag screen and it won't turn off until I hit OK on the remote. I thought with the previous firmware it had a way to turn that screen off?

I really recommend this TV we are all talking about how it doesnt really run at 120Hz.. The tv lookz amazing the 2D to 3D conversion really works but I just try it with 1080p movies. And for the price there is nothing better then this TV.

So I recieved my TV this afternoon, model 47lm4600 which I had ordered online. Never saw it in person but did see other LG models in the store. I must say the first impression when the picture first came on was just WOW. What an incredible picture.

I checked the software version on the TV and it is also 03.40.09 like the other poster who has the 55". Curious what the changes are on this as it is not even available online.

Also, as far as sound I actually think it sounds great. There is a setting to turn on something called real voice and it makes the voices really loud and clear. It is also adjustable so you can make it louder or lower. Only thing is by activating this you cannot use the surround sound feature so who have to choose which one you like better. I like the real voice option. Not a single complaint about the sound.

3D, awesome as expected and was pretty impressed with the 2D to 3D conversion but will probably not use that feature as much. Prefer to watch actually 3D content if I am going to watch 3D. Direct TV 3D channels look good as well......I have been recording some movies that have been running like Hubble and Open Season. Also the Red Hot Chili Peppers performing live in a studio, in 3D! Good stuff.

I did see another model LG TV in a store that had 120hz tru-motion turned on and it was playing Cars 2 and the picture had this 3D look to it. I thought my eyes were bugging out. I do not think this TV has that much of an effect to it. I do think there might be some soap opera look to it but do not really have anything to compare it to. There might not even be any. I am no expert on what is and what is not the soap opera effect. Being that this shipped with a newer firmware version then most people have here I am wondering if they made any changes to the tru-motion effect and possibly turned it up. Guess for anyone interested we will need to wait and see when this version is available for others to download as I do not have a reference point to compare it to the older firmware version to know if anything has changed with the picture.

I replaced a 52" TV with this 47" and was concerned about the TV being to small but I must say the size is not a problem. I sit between 12-14 feet at the furthest distance and it is not an issue at all.....

If I think or see anything else I will post it up or if anyone has any questions let me know....

Update: So after turning the 3D level up to 10 it was just awesome. Sitting 12ft from the TV and was watching some under water creature show on 3net and a wall busted open and rocks actually dropped in front of my glasses. My wife who hates 3D actually asked to see it again. Lol. Oh, and this was before I upped the 3d effect to 10.

Watching regular HD TV, I kept finding myself saying how fantastic the picture looks.

I wanted to see if customer service would be able to supply any info of what was changed in software version 03.40.09 and this was their response below. Unbelievable that the rep would not take the time to learn this TV model does not even have any premium apps or browser before sending me that response.

"I see that you are asking about the changes that have been made for the new software version of the TV. We do not have any specific information with regards to the changes. Basically, software updates are made to improve the performance of the TV when using the premium applications and the web browser. This is just some simple fix for bugs or glitch to make it easier for the customer to use the main features of the TV."

Ordered this tv earlier this morning and got the shipment notification, with it shipping from Memphis I could get it as early as tomorrow, but I figure Monday is a safer bet.

Hopefully you get it tomorrow!

Just want to say I cannot believe how well the 2D-3D conversion works. Raise the depth to 20 and while things do not really pop out of the screen, there is so much depth within the picture. Totally shocked how well this works.

Thanks looking forward to getting it set up, have 33 3d blu-rays ready to try out, everything is looking like it'll be here tomorrow, but not getting my hopes up.

Edit: Tracking just updated, will officially be delivered tomorrow!
