What is the best option?

Best buy? Square trade?

I bought a 5 year best buy protection plan for my 55" Samsung a little over a year ago. Tv started crapping out just after a year and they gave me a new tv since it was still under warranty.

But I lost the rest of my warranty.

What is the best way to insure/ protect this expensive new investment?

Costco gives you an extra 1 year beyond the Manufacturer's typical 1 Year warranty.

Many credit cards do as well, if you purchase with a credit card.

Square Trade is excellent.

Walmart offers Extended Warranties that have been solid as well, but Best Buy is probably a bit better as when they do trade ins, there is more selection.

Thank you. I'm wondering if the best buy protection is worth it. It's 750 for 5 years!

Why are you not considering sony care?

Best Buy sounds extraordinarily expensive, to me. I might plunk down $150 or so for and extra 3 years beyond the Manufacturers 1 year with Square Trade, but I dont do Extended Warranties.

The Sony plan looks good.

Correct in if i'm wrong, but according to costco website you get 2 years from cost plus 3 years from square trade. Total 5 years for $99. Sounds too good to be true

I was thinking that the advantage of the best buy one is that you might be able to swap it for another brand down the line if something goes wrong with the Sony.

i'll be purchasing in a few weeks and will be going with square trade as it's the most affordable of the bunch.
The plan, purchase a TV from another store and buy the square trade warranty at Costco. It's $99 CAD for tv's over $1000 on a 5 year plan (2yrs manuf. + 3 square trade).
From what I've gathered, the catch is the warranty is cumulative. Ex: If the cost of the TV is $1000 and you're first repair is $400, you're left with $600 worth eligible repairs (can someone confirm this?).
Otherwise, a 3yr plan from FS and 2001 AV was like $300-$400 on a $1100 tv!

We are members at a Costco in Mississauga and last month we asked them if we can buy the warranty and they said it is only for TV's that you buy with them. Have you done this before?
