Trying to find a new led tv. Had a 55' LG 4600 and sent it back to Wal-mart. Thought I needed a 60" tv so bought a Vizio. Picture just isn't up to par with the LG. Bought a LG 7200 60" it went back today coulding and flashlighting was bad. Now looking at a LG 7600 and the Samsung 7003. Pretty close in price $1500. Have found a lot of info on the LG but not even a review on the 7003. Hoe does it compare with other Samsungs?

No idea, I was actually doing a search to see what others feedback was on this TV as Walmart has this TV on sale for $1498 (normal $2499) on a Cyber Monday sale today.

I bought the TV and have used it for the weekend. I have owned a Samsung 55" 8000 LED which I sold to upgrade to a Samsung 60" 8000 Plasma (recently broken by a child); It's not as good of a picture of the plasma, but it's nearly on part with the 2010 8000 LED. The remote control is the non-keyboard version. The one + for the 7003 is the thin bezel, love that.

I went ahead and ordered one from Walmart to see what it's like. Free shipping and easy returns why not. This will be my third TV I am trying from Walmart.

Sometimes a retailer will have "retailer only" models. The model number is slightly different from what the mfr has on their site or other sites. The retailer does this so you can't price match because price matching requires the exact same model number for comparison purposes. The model may be exactly the same as the mfr model with only slight, or major, differences. But comparing them to "known" models is time consuming because you basically have to guess the closest model and then go feature by feature. Sometimes the only difference is the panel type. This is a very common practice this time of year to catch the Black Friday and Cyber Monday folks who think they are getting deals on those two days.

The price is nothing special at Walmart for this TV. Samasung is selling it on thier site for about the same price. I am interested in compairing the Samsung to the LG I sent back and the Vizio I will be sending back. The Vizio isn't a bad TV for the price but picture wasn't as nice as the LG and the deal breaker on the Vizio was the 18 seconds it took to turn on, drove me nuts.

Just wanted to chime in (first post) about this model. I too was looking at the LG 7600. I'm a Samsung fan - coming from a Samsung DLP, but my wife loves the LG we have in our bedroom. We went out last Saturday to check out the LG at Best Buy, which she was fine with. Afterwards we went to Magnolia to see if they had the LG as well. They didn't but the salesman started showing me the 7003, which intrigued me. Apparently it was a new model that he could not sell until the next day. Seemed to offer a little more and the price was right at our limit. The only problem I had was that I could not find any info/review of this TV. It really drove me crazy that I could not research this model. Given that, we went ahead and purchased it anyway - the next day.

Completely satisfied with the picture quality - though still working on the settings. The SmartHub seems to be a source of frustration. Anytime I want to watch NetFlix I have to re-establish the wifi connection. I've called a couple of times and that's basically what ends up being done. Have not been able to watch a complete show on Hulu - keeps freezing. I'm confident this will be sorted out. Thought that getting the Dual Core Processor would eliminate this problem - one of the selling points over the LG. The 3D is fine, though I'm not really into 3D, but my kids are stoked. The 2D to 3D is pretty cool, but don't see myself really using it that much.

I'm very happy with the purchase. However if it's a toss up and price is a factor, we did find the LG 55 7600 at Frys for $1299.

One of my biggest reasons for try the Samsung is I plan to wall mount. The Samsung is thinner. The LG is thin but the speakers on the LG are over 2" thick preventing mounting closer to the wall.
One thing I am worried about with the Samsung is SD broadcast and viewing angle. Both were more then excellent with the LG 4600 I sent back and terrible on the Vizio I now have. There is only a few channels I watch in SD cable but they are unwatchable on the Vizio.

This is a very interesting model. It finally showed up on Samsung website and it looks almost the same as 7100 except for just a bit lower contrast and only 2 3D glasses instead of 4. I stopped by Sears last night and they didn't have them on display, but they had 3 of them in boxes on a floor. If you look on Samsung website the image makes it look like it's a holiday special model, the box at Sears had that look also, the print on the box made it look like it was a wrapped gift.

My 7003 came today (Saturday) FedEx. First thing I notice while setting it up is NO clouding or flash-lighting. Can't believe it, his set is the thinnest I have had to date. It's just beautiful. Still adjusting the picture settings. Looking on here for settings but find they are a little different then the 7000.

Disappointed in the picture quality so far. I can't seem to get the picture settings right. I had a much better picture on the LG4600 I sent back with lower Hz and less contrast ratio. Anybody have ideas about settings?

Give it some time yellowvette. I was driving myself crazy in the menu settings. I did finally move out of "standard" and started working in "natural." Natural greys out some of the advanced settings, but I find I like the skin tones and overall color. In "standard" skin looked splotchy. I also reduced sharpness and color considerably. I'm at work, but I can post some setting later when I get home. It's still a WIP, but I feel like I'm getting there.

I would love to see settings of someone else, thanks. I am too far off everything looks just a little fuzzy. The 6 year old Philips I replaced had a better picture then I have. If I hadn't giving it to my sister would give up after 4 TV's.

You guys need to read the other ES threads, specifically the 7100 owners thread....plenty of discussion around settings.

^^^Yeah, this is where I started with my settings:

http://www.avsforum.com/t/1414638/official-samsung-unxxes7100-thread/630

However, I went to "Natural" rather than "Standard" and like the overall picture much better, especially skin tones.

My basic settings: Pic Mode: Natural
Back Light: 18
Contrast: 80
Brightness: 55
Sharpness: 50
Color: 45
TNT G55 R45
Color tone: Standard

Make sure Auto Motion Plus is set to clear. Other than that I used the above referenced thread. I'm still tweaking, but I have tried to live with these settings for a while, and so far I'm happy. YMMV.

Well I have tried everything to get a clear crisp image on this Samsung and nothing works. I have tried everybody's settings and read everything I can find on the subject. There seems to fewer settings on the 7003 compared to the 7100.

I Hooked up the Vizio 60" 120Hz (I am taking back) side by side with the Samsung and the difference is unbelievable, The Vizio is so much more clear. The 55" LG 120Hz was even more clear then the Vizio.

Not sure what to do next. I would just keep the Vizio if it didn't take a total of 18 seconds to turn on and was an inch thinner. Might have to try another 60" LG. Anybody have a idea?

Sounds like you have a bad set/panel - the ES line has an incredibly sharp image.

Yeah, I'm surprised to hear that. A clear crisp picture is not a problem here. In fact, my wife and I are still amazed at the quality of the image. I will say that it took a while to dial in settings. I've even moved away from the ones I posted above.

What kind of cable are you using from your cable/sat box? May be obvious to you, but initially I used component cables because I could not find the HDMI cable I had from the previous TV. The difference was night and day when I used a new HDMI cable. Just a thought.

I was sold on the LG until I saw the Samsung 7003. If you do go that route I would be curious about your thoughts between the two.

The previous LG I had was a model 4600 and the picture was much clearer then the Samsung. Surprising the Vizio that I bought to replace the LG ( thought I needed a 60' ) didn't have a picture as good as the LG. Now the Samsung doesn't have a picture as good as the Vizio. Vizio is going back also just have to decide if I want to try another 7003 they are no longer on Walmart's web site.

I just purchased a 7003 from best buy for $1,500 it gets delivered on 12/8. I was excited and the sale price looked too good to turn down. However I'm interested in the picture quality and wonder if I made a poor decision since problems have been noticed with this model.

On Monday I am going shopping and will see if I can find this set on display anywhere. I want to compare the picture I had with what is on display. Not sure I will find it anywhere, Best Buy, Sam's or Sears.

badyelloevette:

Any luck finding one on display? I have yet to find one on display myself. (I'm in Sarasota FL) I am really torn between returning my PN51E8000, because of the IR and buzzing, and going with a 240hz LED. Speaking with a Samsung rep right now to find out exactly what the differences are between the two. If the panels are identical to the ES7100 and it just has a different feature set, I'm going with the ES7003.

[Update]
After speaking with a dozen Samsung reps and two BestBuy reps(online and in-store) the only differences they came up with between the 7003 and 7100 seem to be insignificant ones. The 7100 comes with more pre-loaded apps, apps that are obtainable on the 7003 via the Samsung app store. The 7100 comes with the nicer mirror finished plastic/metallic finish, 7003 has cheaper black plastic bezel/stand. And the 7100 has a slightly higher (20m:1 vs 19m:1) DCR. The $300 price difference is really odd.

I can't find one on display anywhere. If Walmart still had them on their web site I would order another one. I live too far away from any place else for easy returns. I think I want a 60" at this point. Have been watching the 60" Vizio (that is going back) for awhile now and think I would miss the size difference. I might try another LG 7200 or go with a 60" Samsung of some kind.

Thanks tbris84 for those details:

The 7100 comes with the nicer mirror finished plastic/metallic finish, 7003 has cheaper black plastic bezel/stand. And the 7100 has a slightly higher (20m:1 vs 19m:1) DCR.

Question: Does the 7003 have the logo light on/off feature that the 7100 has? I know its a silly feature but I gotta have my samsung logo light up..

If not, then I guess bezel color, stand color, dcr, and logo on/off light totals $300 in extra cost... which some people might pay for... I am undecided between these models.... but the fancy paint job on the 7100 does look groovy chrome.

The bezel on my 7003 was chrome/silver finish with a clear covering on the outside. The bezel was almost invisible. I think it looked better then then 7100. You can change the logo on the front to whatever you want.
