I’m looking at two 65” LCD-LED televisions.

Vizio M3D651SV ($1748 at Amazon)
Samsung UN65ES6500 ($2698 at Amazon)

They appear to be similar in features (3D capable, “smart” design)
I’ve looked at both in the store and would be happy with the picture from either. The Vizio has a glossy screen and the Samsung has a semi-matte. I would prefer the SM due to potential reflections but could live with the glossy.

My dilemma is this. I am having a hard time convincing myself that the Samsung is really worth almost $1000 more than the Vizio. I like the thinner, lighter design but not to the tune of $1000. I like the SM screen, but not that much.

What objective benefits am I not seeing that would make the Samsung worth that much more?

If you haven't read them yet, I'd go through the thread for the 651 and the 650. As well as the for the ES6500.

I have had the M3D651SV since Monday. So far I'm pleased with it. Some folks have had some issues, but it seems like someone has issues with almost any of the models I've looked at.

One thing I've found that I like so far is the Smart dimming. this feature seems to help dark scenes. Picture quality was actually better than I expected. there is another feature called adaptive luma, that I've turned off as that seemed to cause more problems than it helped.

This is my first LED, I came from a 65inch RPCRT so I'm not sure how this compares with other LED's

In looking at the side by side comparison, two things I note for the M3D651 is that the digital audio out is Optical, not COAX. Also it does have a game mode in the settings menu.

Thanks
