Hello,

Its been a long time, I been more than happy with my 52" Bravia that I picked up two christmases ago. Knock on wood its been flawless. I don't need another TV, but I heard that SONY is no longer making TV's. Or will no longer make any more TV's.

I am a dedicated SONY fan, I loved their product and supported their products for a long time. SAMSUNG and LG make some fine products, i was wondering if I should pick up a 50" LED Sony KDL50EX645 50-Inch 1080p 120HZ Internet Slim LED HDTV (Black)

which is currently going for $800 dollars.

Any suggestions, advice or inputs would be greatly appreciated?

Thank you,

Thank you,

I wouldn't buy a tv just because of the possibility of a company no longer producing one unless it was superior to what was available on the market at the time like the Pioneer Kuro was. There are plenty of sets that can match or exceed Sony's quality at various price levels and there could very well be superior sets down the line. I say continue using your existing set and wait until you need one then shop for the best set available in your budget and meets your needs. smile.gif

Highly doubt Sony is going to stop making TVs, especially since they just put out that 84" 4K model.

Current HT setup:

Samsung UN65F6300 65" LCD HDTV, Polk CS20 Center, 2x Polk Monitor 75T Fronts, 2x Polk TSI300 Backs, Polk PSW110 Subwoofer.

Sure you are not thinking about Sony selling its stake in making LCD panels to Samsung? They are not going to stop making televisions any time soon.

There's been no ground breaking news about Sony just dropping the FP biz over night. They've struggled as have the other big Japanese players, Sharp and Panasonic, but they're not out, yet at least

And I agree with the above post, I wouldn't discard a brand like Sony because they could possibly be out of the FP biz at some point. That's small potatoes IMO.
