Can anyone that owns both a 2012 Samsung Smart TV and Smart Blu-ray Player tell me if there is a difference between the Smart Hub on each device? Do they have the same apps, interface, etc.? Assuming the TV does NOT have a Dual Core Processor, is performance similar?

I'm about to buy a Samsung LED and Blu-ray Player, and am wondering if I need both to be "smart" or can I save a few dollars.

Thanks very much, and sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Yep, pretty much the same.

I can't comment on your speed question as both of my devices have a dual core processor and are the same in terms of performance.

TV: 55ES7100
BR Player: BD-E6500

*EDIT* I thought the BD-E6500 said dual core on the box, but I can't find that spec on Samsungs website??

I just happened to be looking around for an answer to this question myself & came across this older post. I have both a Samsung Smart TV & Samsung BD player & there are (2) things I believe are interesting here. First, I found there are actually more (or perhaps the better word would be different) apps between the two. On the TV, there are actually apps where you can watch demos (short films) that show you the display's 3D capability. These are not on the smart hub on the BD player.
Also I am using an AVR & when using the TV's smart hub, I get no sound whereas on the BD player, I do. (BTW, each is on a different input on my AVR controlled by my Harmony One). I believe I posted a question about this some time ago & can't really remember the answer, but it had to do with changing an audio setting in my AVR whenever I switched to the TV's smart hub. I found this to be a nuisance doing so each time, so I just continue to use the BD player's smart hub because I don't have to manually change any sound settings on my AVR. I'm likely not missing much, but I hate not being able to take advantage of either option. I'd appreciate any comments or suggestions..
