Hello,
I have an offer from Sony for a HX850 for $1060 or a XBR HX929 for $1566. Is the HX929 a better deal at this price of am I wasting my money. Any help is appriciated. I know the 929 has Full array local dimming, but Ive heard the 850 has some improvements too.

I'd say $500 isn't necessarily a small jump for price. IMO thats a sizeable jump. That being said I think they're both pretty solid offers. I'd prefer the HX929, but the HX850 is a beast as well.

The reason I'd prefer the HX929 is the full array over the edge lit config. for the backlight.

Not sure about viewing angles, from what I've seen they both seemed pretty comparable. The HX850 has pretty decent performance, but the HX929 is no slouch in the category either.
For 3D performance, yes, IMO the HX850 does a much better job, I just don't necessarily consider 3D performance a make or break thing.

Own both. Would not spend the $500. The blooming on the 929 is annoying. 850 is the best non-plasma set i have ever owned.

Thanks for the reply, Ill most likely take your advice. Is the 3d better between the two, or sound....
