Just my .02 regarding the EvoKit that I purchased over a year ago for my Samsung ES8000: I haven't had any of the problems mentioned in this thread, it works fine. The new remote quit working and I opted for a Harmony which seems to control everyting except I can't get to the Smarthub. But I think I can fix that. But the bottom line is this: THE TV DOESN'T LOOK ANY BETTER AND DOESN'T WORK ANY BETTER. The menus for the Apps look snazzier, but they work exactly the same. If I had it to do over I wouldn't have spent the $180 or whatever it was. If it ain't broke don't fix it. It's the same panel.

Samsung ES8000 65", Evo Kit installed, Yamaha AVR with Paradigm speakers, iMac, iPad, Apple TV and HTC One phone.

Samsung F8500s just did a FW update. The Kit may have one coming as well.

so far the sek-2000 isn't all that.. no more bluetooth power-on, no more remote-control over the network with 3rd party apps only with samsungs app, skype playing samsung background music while in call (fixed by reinstalling skype) , tv using onboard lan instead of the one of the evokit while doing firmware upgrade first time. seating of the sek-2000 seems worse then the sek-1000. if sek-2000 doesnt respond/ get recognized by tv, unplug it and put it back (take powercord out !) it should snap easily into place. then give a firm tap on it at the side where the connector is after u put it back in place.

I have the SEK-1000/XY installed and works well but in reading the forums there still appears to many issues.

I can't get the local Samsung people to make any sense re the availability or support in Australia.

Comments?
Get the Au one from these spots.

putting a i7 core laptop with DP>HMDI adapter on HMDI port 1 of the tv and moving the mouse.. PS3 hooked up to HMDI port 2.. lag has never been so worse as with this sek-2000.. if you really want the lowest input lag then do not use a evokit at all.

i7 desktop on hdmi to hdmi with a good pcie graphics card and no noticable lag for me -- I'm not using it for gaming so I can only speak to using it as a monitor. The evo kit has been rock solid for my purposes since the middle of june updates.

well, on my es8000s the lag is above 32ms, which is too much for me.

I just got the SEK-2000 for my f8500 and I'm more than impressed by it. I'm not sure I'm $250 impressed with it, but I got it free as a result of the recent Samsung promo. I can't make any comment on input lag but the new interface (which I assume is on all this year's new TVs? I haven't checked) is far and away better than the 2013 interface. The new remote with the Wii-style motion control is slick for entering information as well. I'm incredibly happy they now have a cable tv guide interface. It's a million times better than Comcast's terrible, laggy, jumbo-fonted "X1" interface. They also seemed to add a few new controls on display options, but I'd have to spend a little more time comparing the new and old options to provide details. My only gripe is that it appears all of Samsung's recommended movies and the like are through the Vudu service. I'd really appreciate a filter to see what free movies are available on the various apps/stores.

That's good to hear you like it. I have one, and I am still waiting for the TV to arrive. I was considering selling it new, but now I might give it a try. If you could run a basic input lag test that would be greatly appreciated.

[removed since I don't have enough posts and the forum doesn't like the link]
I don't have any means of inputting a signal... I am going to order a mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, though, so if you give me a few days I could do that.

I decided to give my SEK-2000 that came with my F8500 a try. I wanted to get a comparison of input lag times. Unfortunately, when I plugged it in I get nothing but a black screen. The standby light doesn't even turn on. It was also a pain to unplug. At least my TV still works.

Any ideas why it would be doing this? I would consider returning it, but I have no idea how that will work since I got it included with my purchase.

yup, coz its not good connected. this thing is a pain in the behind. just try to put it on the back with powercord removed. it has to slide in easely and not by too much force. this you can do with a little moving the thing to the outside of the tv. if it snaps in you hear this little click sound. then see if it works, if not just tap hard once on it. that doesn't work then pull it a bit towards edge of tv and see if it does then. eventually it will work. if it keeps rebooting the tv or stops halfway the install it means it is not correctly connected. just try untill it works.
