Just my .02 regarding the EvoKit that I purchased over a year ago for my Samsung ES8000: I haven't had any of the problems mentioned in this thread, it works fine. The new remote quit working and I opted for a Harmony which seems to control everyting except I can't get to the Smarthub. But I think I can fix that. But the bottom line is this: THE TV DOESN'T LOOK ANY BETTER AND DOESN'T WORK ANY BETTER. The menus for the Apps look snazzier, but they work exactly the same. If I had it to do over I wouldn't have spent the $180 or whatever it was. If it ain't broke don't fix it. It's the same panel.

Samsung ES8000 65", Evo Kit installed, Yamaha AVR with Paradigm speakers, iMac, iPad, Apple TV and HTC One phone.

Samsung F8500s just did a FW update. The Kit may have one coming as well.

so far the sek-2000 isn't all that.. no more bluetooth power-on, no more remote-control over the network with 3rd party apps only with samsungs app, skype playing samsung background music while in call (fixed by reinstalling skype) , tv using onboard lan instead of the one of the evokit while doing firmware upgrade first time. seating of the sek-2000 seems worse then the sek-1000. if sek-2000 doesnt respond/ get recognized by tv, unplug it and put it back (take powercord out !) it should snap easily into place. then give a firm tap on it at the side where the connector is after u put it back in place.

putting a i7 core laptop with DP>HMDI adapter on HMDI port 1 of the tv and moving the mouse.. PS3 hooked up to HMDI port 2.. lag has never been so worse as with this sek-2000.. if you really want the lowest input lag then do not use a evokit at all.

i7 desktop on hdmi to hdmi with a good pcie graphics card and no noticable lag for me -- I'm not using it for gaming so I can only speak to using it as a monitor. The evo kit has been rock solid for my purposes since the middle of june updates.

well, on my es8000s the lag is above 32ms, which is too much for me.

I just got the SEK-2000 for my f8500 and I'm more than impressed by it. I'm not sure I'm $250 impressed with it, but I got it free as a result of the recent Samsung promo. I can't make any comment on input lag but the new interface (which I assume is on all this year's new TVs? I haven't checked) is far and away better than the 2013 interface. The new remote with the Wii-style motion control is slick for entering information as well. I'm incredibly happy they now have a cable tv guide interface. It's a million times better than Comcast's terrible, laggy, jumbo-fonted "X1" interface. They also seemed to add a few new controls on display options, but I'd have to spend a little more time comparing the new and old options to provide details. My only gripe is that it appears all of Samsung's recommended movies and the like are through the Vudu service. I'd really appreciate a filter to see what free movies are available on the various apps/stores.

That's good to hear you like it. I have one, and I am still waiting for the TV to arrive. I was considering selling it new, but now I might give it a try. If you could run a basic input lag test that would be greatly appreciated.

[removed since I don't have enough posts and the forum doesn't like the link]
I don't have any means of inputting a signal... I am going to order a mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, though, so if you give me a few days I could do that.

I decided to give my SEK-2000 that came with my F8500 a try. I wanted to get a comparison of input lag times. Unfortunately, when I plugged it in I get nothing but a black screen. The standby light doesn't even turn on. It was also a pain to unplug. At least my TV still works.

Any ideas why it would be doing this? I would consider returning it, but I have no idea how that will work since I got it included with my purchase.

yup, coz its not good connected. this thing is a pain in the behind. just try to put it on the back with powercord removed. it has to slide in easely and not by too much force. this you can do with a little moving the thing to the outside of the tv. if it snaps in you hear this little click sound. then see if it works, if not just tap hard once on it. that doesn't work then pull it a bit towards edge of tv and see if it does then. eventually it will work. if it keeps rebooting the tv or stops halfway the install it means it is not correctly connected. just try untill it works.

If that doesn't work you could always duct tape it to the back of the set and smash it in with an aluminum baseball bat. And if that doesn't work place it directly in the toilet and flush

Well it can be frustrating. I had a hard time getting my SEK seated right before it worked okay the first time. You'd think Samsung would have designed the connection a little better

My Samsung remote that came with the EvoKit died. The original TV remote doesn't work with the EvoKit of course. I got a Harmony to work the TV/AVR etc. But I can't get to the Smarthub or the TV settings menu. Can I get a new remote, or how do I do this with the Harmony? Thanks in advance!

I've got a Harmony One. I use the watch tv activity for all smart hub functions. I just customized the buttons so that when I hit the guide button, it brings up the Smart Hub. Never really used my remote that came with Evo Kit. I've got the first Evo kit. I did wake up this morning to find two of the panels from the smart hub missing. Right now I've only got the main App panel and the panel showing movies you can buy. Anybody else experience this?

Contact Samsung, I would have thought it would be still under warranty assuming your EVO kit is a SEK2XXX ?

very frustrating yup. same here. 2013 kit > click n go. 2014 kit > no click , slam n click and no go. pull n push several times and after 3 times jamming the tv and reboots it finally worked. would expect samsung to put a lever mechanism instead of a springloaded crap interface they use.

I programmed the red button to bring up the Smarthub. But the up/down/left/right buttons don't do anything to move the cursor. Do I have to use a different button?

The long Samsung remote that came with your tv should work either evokit smart hub

Also I just tried the remote that came with a c-series Samsung led and the media.p button to the left of the menu button launches the 2014 smart hub for me

Do you have some sort of set to box configured in the watch tv activity? I think arrows may still be trying to control that. If so the easiest thing to do would be hit devices then TV.

No my Samsung remote is not a long remote, it's a touch remote and doesn't work with the Evokit, only the EvoKit remote works. Thanks though

That works! I select Samsung TV and I can navigate the Smarthub. Thanks!
