Samsung doesn't want to do anything to help me either. They have had me call in 3 separate times to try to diagnose. I'm like really? I read the instructions and watched the install video online. I'm not an idiot. I just want to try with another one. There's only 2 possibilities, either the module is bad, or the terminal on my F8000 is. Either way, both are under warranty, and they should address the issue for me. I talked to the installer that did my wiring and speakers and he is aware of 2 other occasions where his customers paid him to do the install of the SEK-2000 & he had issues.

Just to confirm, because Samsung told me one thing and posters on this board are saying the opposite: can the PN60E8000GF be upgraded with the SEK-2000?

Samsung told me only the SEK-1000 was compatible, but she didn't sound 100% certain.

Thumbs down

Does anyone know if the SEK2000 is compatible with my UN60ES7500F LED Smart TV? I wish I saw the price some people have mentioned they got it for $50, it's now selling for $249 on the Samsung website.
Also, I am having a problem with the wifi on my TV. It can see my router or any other devices acting as routers but will not connect only through the LAN cable even after trying all of the recommended DNS setting and firmware changes etc.

The SEK2000 works with your set.
Samsung was dumping the SEK2000 for $50 earlier this year and those are all gone.
The SEK2000 will not solve your wifi issue. You will likely need to replace the wifi module (WIDT20R). Samsung part number BN59-01148C was the pert in my tv that I replaced to fix my wifi issue.

I agree with you regarding the wifi module and I found similar suggestions on other sites before I came here. I just thought that it was weird that it would see my router and not connect. I even went through my router settings and updated my ACL.
Sucks I missed the fire sale on those Evo kits.
Thanks again for you info and reply.

So SEK-3000 is not coming and SEK-2000 are all gone... I'm searching online for one and can't find any for my TV UA40ES7500R. Good job Samsung!

Anyone know what the latest firmware is on the SEK-2000? I see the Samsung website lists 1030 as the latest but I recall you could update to 1040 if done through the software update on the tv. Reason for the question is that the kit introduced a lot of ghosting for 3D movies and wonder if a newer firmware update has been released that might have resolved the issue or not.

No EVO KIT

http://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php...&id=1452218907

Well for those of us who bought the 2012, with the promise of "evolving our TV" till 2016, were had... I feel worse for the 2014 H-Series guys, who never even got one. Those who had the FHD TV's, the One-Connect UHD folks got theirs.

The link I added a couple of posts up, for the South Korea page, includes a couple of large update files. These may be the firmware updates that replace the Evo Kit.

Glad I got the SEK-2000 when I had the chance. I'm happy with it.

searched for SEK-3000K and this is what i gathered so far.

SEK-3000K is indeed upgrade over SEK-2000 with new remote.
there is no user review or update describing what was changed other than remote.

SEK-3000K is korean market only model and was given as bonus to those who purchased 2013 F-series tvs.
It says it's only compatible with F7400/F7500/F8000/F8200/F8500

These were made on 2015.11 so it's still relatively new even for Korean market, nevermind US/EU markets

These can be purchased on classified for about $108 usd @ current rate of (1usd = 1200 kwn)

can't post link due to site restrictions.
type biz(.)newdaily(.)co(.)kr/news/article.html?no=10083912

upon searching for evolution kit, came across this article dated back in august 2015.

it's in korean, but it's pretty much saying Samsung will pull plug off of Evolution Kit due to high cost and low profits.

They said not many people bought these tvs based on ability to upgrade so it wouldn't be huge issue.

i hope someone can find out if there can be class-action law-suit regarding future proofing/providing upgrade for 5 yrs.

am i only one who feels robbed?

The sek-3500 was never really released in the uk with most having to import from Europe. I did buy the my TV due to the evaluation kit being no standing at that time, with the promise of moderate future proofing.

Just read this article from flatpanelshd(.)com/news(.)php?subaction=showfull&id=1452218907

The company promised to release new Evolution Kits until at least 2016. It seems that they have given up on it one year early. The writing was probably already on the wall when Samsung decided to forget about the SEK-3000 last year.

Just managed to grab myself a sek-2000 off ebay for £185 for my ES8000!!

Over upgrading apps and the remote?

Seems that if that's all it does, its bad economics anyway.

But we were led to believe that the evolution kits would do more than apps and remote. Buyer beware prevails.

Ok guys maybe this is the thread to ask, so I have a 2012 PN65E8000 and that limits me to the SEK-1000 (49.00-99.00) or the SEK 2000 (215.00), Is the SEK 2000 much of an advantage over the 1000? Worth an extra 165.00/115.00 depending on where I purchase it? What are the major differences?

I have a Samsung Plasma Model PN64E8000, its a 2012 Plasma.

It came with 2 remotes and 3D glasses. I do not use the 3D or the silver remote. I use the basic long samsung or a Harmony remote.

I use a comcast Box and its remote and also stream from my NAS and Netflix.

The TV works well with the NAS and Netflix. I use the Wi Fi for that.

Netflix has a New app that is on my newer 2015 Samsung but I can't get it for the 2012 plasma. Will one of these Evolution kits allow me to get the newer Netflix app? (it will auto play a TV series one after the other) old one can't.

What kit do I need for the PN64E8000?

Will I loose wi fi with these kits? Meaning no more NAS, No more Netflix with wi fi?
