Does anyone know the p# for an SEK2000/xy? I can try and buy it as a replacement part from Samsung spares.

Failing that anyone in Korea/Asia want to sell theirs?

I have an UA55H8000AWXRD

I looked on the box, and on the device itself for the North American version. Both show "Model Code: SEK-2000/ZA". I would guess that you're looking for "SEK-2000/XY". There is nothing on the box or the device that says "P/N" or spells out "Part Number".

To anyone interested in a Google Chromebox or Chromebook..
Be aware that these boxes run a variant of Linux and DO NOT support HDCP!!!
This means no support for HD on most streaming services. I wish I would have known this beforehand....

If you can find one, the SEK-2000 is the last kit supported for your tv.

You'll need to find one that matches the region of your TV (US version won't work for you)

According to the product manual HEVC(H.265) is a supported video codec.

The manual clarifies that the HEVC codec is only available in MKV /MP4 / TS containers. Streaming and DLNA are not
supported.

Sek-3000/za eta 4-27-2016

Sparco is showing an eta of 4-27 for the SEK-3000. http://www.sparco.com/cgi-bin/wfind2...8#.VxYJn9QrKUk

What this will add to our sets is anyones guess. Maybe Tizen based smart hub?

I think that may be nothing more than an automatic date push by their inventory software, as stock was not recieved. I gave them a call, and the rep emailed me, and said he was contacting their Samsung rep. If it's coming in he'll email me the dates, and if it's not they will remove the product listing from their site.

Unhappy Evolution Kit and Digital TV Card

Hello,

First time poster.

I have a Samsung UE65ES8000 with an evolution kit installed. I currently only use the TV with the Internet.

I am thinking of subscribing to my local cable operator. They offer a "digital TV card" that one is supposed to insert into their TV.

The cable company has a tool where you can enter the make/model of your TV and it will tell you whether your TV is compatible. For mine it says it is compatible however, I do not see any slot on my TV where this could be inserted.

I am quite the novice about these sort of things but it seems like the Evolution Kit is installed using the CI slot. But I need that slot to attach a CI card reader? Or does the Evolution Kit do both somehow? But I do not see any slot on the Evolution Kit to install any card.

What am I missing?

In your second picture, it looks like the slots for the ci adapter are possibly above the evolution kit, maybe hidden under the piece that says common interface? The slots for the evolution kit were originally covered with a similar piece that said evolution kit.

@poppagene ,

Thanks. Of course you are entirely correct. Now I suppose I need to acquire one of these common access modules?

I am on hold with Samsung in my country to inquire about this. Failing that, is the an online option to purchase these things? I looked at amazon.co.uk and I saw this:

Samsung 3709 001835 Double Common Interface Adaptor for LED TV Dual Slot serie H6580 to H8090 ...

Are there different types for different TV models/makes?

You need 3 things:
Card from your service provider.
CI module. As far as I know, it's universal. You can buy it in any electronic store and probably also from your service provider.
The adapter to connect the CI module to your TV. It's a small plastic part and its included with TVs. Usually it's in a plastic bag with other accessories.

I recently picked up a used SEK-2000/ZA cheap as a gift for a friend who mentioned wanting one for their F8000 TV and we have been having some trouble installing it. The TV is up to date (v1214) and its been off completely when we plug it in, but even with the LAN cable plugged in (both the TVs own LAN port and the extension for the SEK box) it says "No updates found on the USB"

I've even tried putting the update files from the official site onto a flash drive to see if that helps, the highest firmware I can find is 1030.0 on the site and it doesn't recognize that. Any ideas on how to get this working? I'm not even sure if the update folders are in the right location on my flash drive since I can't find any documentation on USB updating.

Is your problem that it won't install or that it won't update? If the latter, if you have a choice when installing tell it to not look for updates. Also, every time you unplug the SEK from the back of the set, the firmware on the F8000 mauy revert to an older firmware and you should check to make sure the set is up to date before restarting the installation again. Also, make sure that you "back up" before installing the SEK even if you don't have anything that you want to save. It may make a difference. For what it's worth, I found the SEK-2000 to be too buggy.

If you're having no luck installing, make sure that the SEK-2000 is seated properly in the back of the set. The extension cable for the lan is only for the 2012 sets like the ES8000 and ES7500 so you don't want to use that on a F8000.

You get this error if the TV and evolution kit are not from the same region.

You can also get this error if it is not seated correctly. Also if your wifi is down, ensure you have your router hard Wired to the evo kit.

I ordered the SEK-3000 from PCNation and installed it last night. There were no issues (other than trying to read the microscopic font on the instructions) and the hub now looks like my 2015 JS9000. It came with the 2015 remote and yes, it is Octa core.

I am curious about the model too. I got my SEK-3000 on Friday and installed it on an PN64F8500 and my tv is pretty borked now. 3D Does not work right at all, Netflix,Amazon, and Hulu will never load up. The audio in plex constantly has 1/2 second pauses when sending audio to my receiver. The smart interface freezes for long periods of time.

Impossible to remove it now as the removal process in the menus does not work and simply removing it with the power off leaves the TV in a non bootable state.

Samsung support claims there is no such thing as an SEK-3000/ZA. Still Working on finding someone at samsung that has a clue...
