$200 now....not to bad...but still not worth what a simple firmware update would have done... you want proof? here it is...all the new "F"series in 2013 7100 model and below have only a DUAL CORE processor with the new smart hub user interface....ENOUGH SAID.....

$400 ON AMAZON, HA HA HA... Good luck selling them

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B00CILJB90/ref=dp_olp_0?ie=UTF8&condition=all

$299 goes on sale in May 2013

good luck selling them..I'll buy one to test it out...but kinda steep if you ask me...

LATEST UPDATES:

Here are the facts according to the sources below:

1.New Remote

2. 1.3 GHz Quad Core Chip set (they are taking the existing dual core in the tv and combining with the evolution kit to make it a 1.3GHz QUAD CORE according to the you tube video below)

3.Improved GPU & More RAM....no numbers yet

4.New Smart Hub Interface

5.Only available for these 2012 models: LED-based UN75ES9000, UNES8000, and UNES7500 LED TVs, as well as the PNE8000 and PNE7000 plasmas

6.Price is sub $500...(what a pathetic joke)

7. the 2013 Evolution Kit is only good for this year's tv new features, if you want new features from 2014 model TVs, you are gonna yet have to buy another evolution kit in 2014....total BS....ONE evolution kit should last for the next 4 years, just update the software for pete's sake....

8. The little freaking evo kit box after all the engineering, planning, design, brainstorming, etc, they still managed to leave a freaking ethernet cable dangling around...you think that would have been built into the evo kit itself and just access online features thru its already existing tv ethernet port....oh why another cable? dumb, and idiotic, and stupid....

9. H.265 video codecs???? NO SOURCES YET, just talk from samsung...

If you have a high-end 2012 smart sammy HDTV, you already know you have an expansion port in the back of your TV for the EVOLUTION KIT coming out this year.

Samsung will debut it this week at 2013 CES in las vegas....

Anyway, lets see what it actually does, depending on how much it costs too...

IMHO, I think it will be a big gimmick, just like the whole smart hub interface...big gimmick and hoopla...

Just think bout it, if an official samsung keyboard costs over $100...how much do you think the EVOLUTION KIT will cost? I bet it will be at least $300. Kinda of a scam if you ask me.

Also if you have a 2012 Samsung Smart HDTV, let me know what model number is it...Im gonna try to compile a list of which TVs have the expansion port for the EVOLUTION KIT.....

So without even seeing it you are already willing to call it a gimmick, hoopla, and a scam. I think it rather deopends on what the changes are. If they are minor, you might want to skip the upgrade. If it is major and gives you something you want, you may want to get it. It's just like a GPS upgrade. You might not need it every year, but if there's a major upgrade in the offing, it might be very worthwhile.

Maybe we could wait to see it before calling it a scam, eh? One wonders why you would bother to make a list if you think so lowly of the product.

Well lets see till it comes out...i think it might be gimmicky....we all have our opinions...but I dont see dishing money out every year to get a new evolution kit...unless its dirty cheap.... we shall see....

Also, i just read the the evolution kit will have a new redesigned smart hub and a quadcore chip set for faster performance... thats not gonna be cheap.....

so the real question is this....will the evolution kit have a dual core chip set and add to the existing dualcore on the tv to form a quad core...or will it have a physical quadcore chipset inside the evolution kit....so many questions....

According to The Verge at CES ( http://www.theverge.com/2013/1/7/3845610/samsung-new-2013-smart-hub-tv-interface-hands-on-smart-evolution-kit ), "A representative told us that it'll ship with a new remote, and will cost between $200 and $400. No word on when they'll be available.".

thanks for the info brotha...good stuff....like i said it above...i was right it was gonna be around $300....I dont know.....

so far what we know is this:

*quad core chipset

*new remote control

*new improved smarthub

*$200-$400 price

is it worth it? only time will tell...kinda on the pricey side if you ask me....maybe is worth it if we do it every 2 years...so what happens next year? I have to dish out more money for the 2014 model evolution kit? I dont have money to throw around...this evolution kit must knock my socks off....I'm gonna have to test it, before deciding to keep one.....

So...... Is this a photo of a 4th HDMI jack added by the evolution kit?? That would be great, but I can't find any mention of what this cable goes to?

I got the photo and mention of a cable from here;

"It’s more than just an interface too; the upgrade cartridge clips onto the rear of your existing TV and you plug it in via a short cable to the dedicated Evolution Kit port – installation is as simple as that"

The cable goes all the way back to corporate Samsung in Korea. This will really cost them in comparison to the panel replacement issues.

No idea - - it looks like some type of power supply or USB ?

I was hoping that there would be a picture enhancement with the Evo kit since I do not use any of the applications (stream via Bluray player & use separate media server.) Maybe they'll tie some gaming enhancements to appeal to gamers?

I guess it's all speculation until we see what's released and we start getting feedback from the user community.

Nice link! Thanks Badabing!

A 2012 TV will be supported with new Evo Kits until 2016, one a year, 4 upgrades. If you don't find benefit in this years upgrade, wait until next year and so on - or upgrade every year.

The best part.... In addition to the smart features, "It will even make the picture look better".

Can I ask why I have to buy a piece of hardware to run Samsungs latest software? That be like having to buy a new computer every year to upgrade to the latest software.

Oh and another remote! Why yes because the four I have at home aren't nearly enough....

I do agree with you....its all bout the money....think about this....the PS3 has been around since 2006....still going strong after 6 years....I have the original fat 20gb model...the thing is a beast.....just update the lastest firmaware and BOOOM.....

the evolution kit cant be $300...too much money for something that will be udated everyyear from now on.....$99 and I am in....

All that crap is on Google TV or a Roku. Just get one of those for $70.

you are right to a point....but in all fairness, the evolution kit has a quad core chip set.....still it does not warrant a $200-$400 PRICE TAG.....it better do a lot more.....we shall seee

I thought that too perhaps, but the TV is already capable of MHL so I'm still not sure.

MHL is just a micro USB port with HDMI output..all new samsung smart phones have the MHL port with HDMI capability....take that apple freaking lighting port....new freaking connector and it doesn't even output HDMI...without another freaking adapter...like the commercial says "apple makes the coolest adapters".. lol

2013 CES video on YouTube;

Less than $500 my rear end...WTF.....come on....they say it will be supported for 4 years till 2016...fine....cool stuff...but for $500? no way in helll...it will have to freeze over....

and another thing.....I have a freaking ultra slim profile wall mount...that's gonna make the TV 2x THICK.....what the helll....what's the point in having a slim TV with this effing brink in the back?

That would be a bummer, as I want my sole MHL port free for other devices.

EDIT:

Looking closely at the picture, it's connected to HDMI IN 1 (DVI). The port above it (MHL) is free. Hence, I would say that it does NOT plug into an MHL port. It probably plugs into a regular HDMI-IN port.
