Hey guys. I cannot seem to find any options on motionflow on the 42EX440 despite the box plastering the logo everywhere. All I see is CinemaMotion which I beleive is for 24p and some "LED Motion Mode" that only dims my screen.

Can someone help!

Isn't the EX440 a 60hz set? You won't be able to get "MotionFlow" for the Soap Opera Effect nor the setting to just increase motion resolution because of it.

CineMotion and the LED Motion Mode (which is black frame insertion) is all you'll get.

If you want MotionFlow, you'll have to upgrade to a model that is 120hz or better.

Current HT setup:

Samsung UN65F6300 65" LCD HDTV, Polk CS20 Center, 2x Polk Monitor 75T Fronts, 2x Polk TSI300 Backs, Polk PSW110 Subwoofer.

Odd, because the website plastered "motionflow XR120" and so does the box. False advertising on sonys part?

XR120 probably obtained just from the LED Motion Mode, but the set is still only 60hz and incapable of doing motion interpolation.

It is kind of false, or maybe deceptive, advertising, yeah.

The 120hz sets usually are advertised as XR240 and the 240hz sets advertised as XR480 and sometimes XR960.

Current HT setup:

Samsung UN65F6300 65" LCD HDTV, Polk CS20 Center, 2x Polk Monitor 75T Fronts, 2x Polk TSI300 Backs, Polk PSW110 Subwoofer.

This is odd, I know the set is 60hz and that's fine since my blu rays will run in 24hz (only in cinema mode I think) but I wanted to clear up football games with this XR120, and the motion mode only dims my display and I see zero Soap Opera Effect and I know some Sony sets actually say "motionflow" in the options with a low medium and high setting.

And that's why you don't have the MotionFlow option. Pretty much end of discussion here.

If you feel like you've been taken advantage of, I'd call Sony.

If you wanted the MotionFlow you're looking for, you should have opted for a EX6** or higher.

Current HT setup:

Samsung UN65F6300 65" LCD HDTV, Polk CS20 Center, 2x Polk Monitor 75T Fronts, 2x Polk TSI300 Backs, Polk PSW110 Subwoofer.

How do they get away with every retailer, box and their own website showing off this feature?

I have a KDL-40W600b that advertises MotionFlow XR240 and I don't see any MotionFlow settings anywhere either... Just LED Motion Mode, and for me, it appears to not give the soap opera effect and only dims the screen as well... I figure since it advertises MF XR240, this must be a 120Hz set as well, right? Then I go on Sony's store and look up specs and this is what I find in reference to the Hz...

  • Video

    • Video Signal : 1080/24p (HDMI only); 1080/60i; 1080/60p (HDMI / Component); 480/60i; 480/60p; 720/60p; 1080/30p (HDMI only); 720/30p (HDMI only); 720/24p (HDMI only)
  • HDMI PC Input Format : 640x480@60Hz; 800x600@60Hz; 1280x768@60Hz-R; 1280x768@60Hz; 1360x768@60Hz; 1024x768@60Hz; 1280x1024@60Hz; 1920x1080@60Hz

So is this LCDTV not 120Hz? Will I not get that soap opera effect of simulated 120Hz I want to toy around with? Or am I missing something in the settings? Does it have to be in Sports mode to get that MotionFlow XR240 experience, and not in my Game Mode I always keep it on?

I just chatted with Sony... False advertising indeed!

10:12 PM  Support session established with Alvin - (C5TM).
10:12 PM   Alvin - (C5TM):
Hi. Welcome to Sony Online Support. My name is Alvin. Please allow me a moment to review your concern.
10:12 PM   Customer:
Okay
10:13 PM   Alvin - (C5TM):
Could you please elaborate your concern.
10:14 PM   Customer:
I bought the KDL-40W600b, on the Sony Store website it's advertised as having MotionFlow XR240 to make fast motion like sports look smoother... I don't see any options anywhere in this TV to enable that MotionFlow XR240 so that fast motion looks better.
10:14 PM   Customer:
So my question is, how do I enable and disable that setting?
10:15 PM   Alvin - (C5TM):
Alright.I'll surely help you with this.
10:15 PM   Customer:
I tried turning on LED Motion Mode in Advanced Settings under Picture Adjustments, and all that did was dim the screen and make it look like it's flickering really fast.
10:15 PM   Alvin - (C5TM):
Please allow me a moment while I research this information.
10:20 PM   Alvin - (C5TM):
I'm sorry This feature is not available in this model.
10:22 PM   Alvin - (C5TM):
Is there anything else that I may assist you with?
10:25 PM   Alvin - (C5TM):
I have not received a response. I’m closing the chat. Please feel free to get back to us for further assistance.
