I'm pretty sure they are doing it for more money. The F8500 is the exact same TV as the F8000 but sense Samsung is using an all metal frame, they can market it as a more "premium" product. Due to this, I'm pretty sure that Samsung will be able to make a high profit on the F8500 than the F8000.

Samsung needs as much profit as possible this year. They spent a lot of money on developing their UHD and OLED TVs and due to the economy, there will not be very many people buying those sets. Getting high profits from the F8500 should help them recuperate.

Yep, the F8000...gorgeous but...grab the es8000 now and run the 1046.2 FW and you will have what I describe as " an Elite on 8000 skin "....

Love for all things Hi-def...Losing count; 200 plus bluray, 500 plus dvd, 30 plus HDdvd and a rapidly growing 50 plus in the cloud.

Come right down to it, they can leave off the crappy sounding speakers, and my DVR has three tuners built in, so they can leave that out as well.

And, of course, I just get all warm and fuzzy thinking about who and what is on he other end of that GD camera.

I guess I just want a big-ass old monitor with the best PQ they can come up with.

Is that asking too much? wink.gifbiggrin.gif

I use my tv speakers every day when watching the news or sitcoms. I don't need news in surround. Also, I live in an apartment so I would get a knock on the door real fast if I cranked up my surround speakers at 1:00 am. I'm very grateful that these companies include built-in speakers. Try to keep in mind that just because you have a great sound system doesn't mean the built-in speakers don't come in handy for some people. For movies in the afternoon and evening, I use my surround. At 1:00 am or for crap tv shows, I often use the built-in speakers. They're just fine for standard tv junk.

Also, not everybody has a dvr, or even cable. Those who want to cut the cord and just get free over-the-air HD local channels need a built-in tuner or they can't receive any channels. For the cost of these sets, they better come with speakers and a built-in tuner.

But I do agree they can do without all the extra hand-waving baloney.

Wow guys! I'm loving the back side of it. Is it silver? It looks silver

Nice Pics...Again.

Looks like the F8000 and F8500 will have hidden compartments for Inputs and the Evo-Kit.

Thanks my friend! Yea, it looks slick right? I'm still very happy now with my ES from 2012 though, but I do need one more TV and I think I'm heading towards the F8500 LED now I guess. I love that frame

Sometimes it worked amazingly well, then other times, it didn't at all. When it does work, its very addicting. I actually finished all boards so I stopped playing it.

Funny, maybe because I saw the PDP F8500 first I like it and its design a little better.

The LED F8500 looks amazing, yet a little garish compared to the PDP's understated finish.

Also I doubt Samsung will match the PDP's black level with the LED.

Anyway you look at it its Two (or maybe Three [F8000]) great choices from Samsung.

I'm interested in the 60 inch once Nov/Dec rolls around again. Hopefully, price reductions will mirror the es8000s as the year came to an end.

Yes, very true. I wanted the F8500 at first, but I'm noticing on my E8000 plasma that I can't get that crystal clear sharp pic like with my 8000 LED. Don't get me wrong, the blacks are black and the colors pop and the brightness is plenty on the plasma, its just the sharpness that I like more on the LED.. If that makes sense..

That makes a lot of sense to me. I have included a Darby in my system to make it appear even more sharper

Yeah, just 90 days. Did I tell you that they gave me a $100 gift card as an apology for the ban. Was real nice of my store to do so. GM off BB did say if I need to return/exchange anything in the meantime to have my wife return it or call him and he will override the ban. Guess they wanted my to keep buying all those blurays I seem to keep buying.

HAHA! Yea you said that. That was very cool for them to do that. I still can't believe what you went through though, and your still here defending the TV that didn't work out for you. That's amazing. Anyone else would be mutha .,, the ES8000 if they went through that

It's all just one big panel lottery regardless of brand, make or model. Now that the main tv is squared away, if the F8000 is the best fit for the master BR, then I'm willing to do it all over again. smile.gif and remember, I always liked the 2D image on the 60Es8000 so perfect 3D on the secondary set won't really be an issue.

I give you credit for looking at it like that. Some people only try one and then totally dismiss it for one little issue and then goes on to another brand and bad mouths the other.. Hint smile.gif

On, if you buy from a seller that's cheaper, be careful because you may not be able to return it or have a warranty. Some places that sell it so cheap, is because they aren't an "Authorized" retailer so stick to places like Amazon or BB

So, for example, the 60-inch is $2,800 on Amazon right now, but Buy Squad has it for $2,205. That is a $600 difference! Would you still pick Amazon?

And you don't think that they can fix the 65 inch more over time? I was really wanting the biggest one, but if it is a lost cause then maybe it isn't worth the 5 extra inches?

I don't know anything about that TV, or whether or not it had that feature.

I had the 50" c8000 & for some reason i Never got it to work watching movies from usb stick or external HDD.
I always thought maybe i didn't format the usb stick correctly but since owning a es8000 i found No problem using the same usb sticks for watching movies.Initially it didn't bother me much but i guess with all the negative things i eventually hated about that plasma made me punch it.
the 3d for gaming wasn't that great, too dark i found it & even when using nvidia 3D play with all the additional settings didn't solve cross talk..what drove me nutz was why didn't they make a way to use d8000 glasses via some sortof dongle on the c8000.
Actually if it wasn't for this evo kit on es80000 i would have gotten another brand hdtv.
I still have the nice remote & all the parts from the c8000 minus the planel that i threw out.
Any1 need c8000 parts?biggrin.gif

Lastly, i do love the look of the LED f8500 but the gun smoke "magnum" 8500 plasma really steals my heart away.
Dang it, really want that 8500 plasma but i will wait & see what the G edition will be like.

But I do agree they can do without all the extra hand-waving baloney.

I totally get that plenty of people want those things. I was only trying to make the point, in a tongue-in-cheek sort of rant, that I would bet there's quite a market for sets that concentrate on PQ in lieu of exotic features, especially if that would lower the price significantly.

Hell, I'd be interested even if it didn't, just because there'd be a lot less to go wrong. And I'd bet there's plenty of others on this and other forums who feel the same way. Thing is, it's probably not profitable to sell a set without all the bells and whistles. same with better cameras. They all need to do video now, built in flashes, and more auto modes than anyone knows what to do this. And, if you want the best quality in the things that actually matter, you have to take the fluff with it.

So it goes....... rolleyes.gif

Has the F8500 been announced in the US? Wonder what the 75" will cost?

Hi

Some bad news regarding the F8500. Apparently this model is only for the european market (I bet it will soon be anounced for the US market though rolleyes.gif)) but the really bad news me thinks, is the price, at least in Europe (in US electronics are usually a bit cheaper than in my continent, but still): 2799€ (+-3790$) for the 46" and 3799€ (+-5150$) for the 55"eek.gif.

]Lastly, i do love the look of the LED f8500 but the gun smoke "magnum" 8500 plasma really steals my heart away

I'm glad your happy! Are you the one that said the BB employees saw what the update did and couldn't believe their eyes? I can't remember who said this the other day
Thats funny I was at BB Saturday looking around at the Elite just for giggles.I know it was set on demo mode but I wasn't really impressed. And it was under the lights.I think my $2800 un60es8000 has a lot more blacks in it than that TV after update.I saw a BB talking to a customer he real didnt know crap about the es8000 he said the 65 was the best panel samsung had. He also didnt know about the evolution kit that I asked him about.he didn't even know it was.he didn't know about the latest update or anything about the TV. Dont get me wrong I love BB. its probably hard to keep up with all the make some models and technology has to do with them.LOL I quietly talk to a customer into buying the un60es8000. anyways you guys have fun LOL

Hey big daddy0118; Here's the Delio Elio!!!

The Toshiba HDvdvd player processes DVD better than any machine I have seen other than OPPO's. And that goes for my 2nd generation Samsung bluray player the bd-p1200 with the Faroudja chip.

Until two years ago Toshiba was automatically sending me the FW upgrade disc. Quality picture and outstanding support. I bought two of these lil beasta at 50 bucks each the day after "the war" ended.

Yes, hd dvd's are amazing in 1080p on my es8000, better yet...the 500 plus DVD libray I still have is absolutely the BOMB on this machine. Its smart, works perfect with my HarmonyOne.

Are you drink'n what i'm pour'n Broheem?

Love for all things Hi-def...Losing count; 200 plus bluray, 500 plus dvd, 30 plus HDdvd and a rapidly growing 50 plus in the cloud.
