Probably the same people that buy generic brand foods and criticize others for buying brand names. Sorry, but I've yet to find a generic version of nacho cheese Doritos that compares to Frito Lay...
Don't criticize people for having taste and the income to afford the things that please them.
It's like comparing pot roast to prime rib roast; both are good, but I'll take the prime rib everytime!

Well ended up getting an 55F8000 yesterday at best buy.

From my 2 year old 6050, all I can say is wow.

It's incredible. Settings almost perfect out of the box for watching Frozen.

Now what should I do about warranty? Square trade?

Pixel stuck on bright, take back. Pixel stuck off, I would probably keep it. A replacement may have other issues. Of course, if it driving you crazy best take it back.

You can`t , for some reason Samsung did not include a headphone jack , and BlueTooth head sets don`t work.

The only audio out is optical and the sound bar , NOW , maybe the sound bar can be a headphone out ?

I don`t no , but you could try that.

E-Manual > Getting Started > Audio Out Connection

What tech support told me was to use the dongle that came w/ the head set in a USB port. You could try to to plug the RF unit into the audio out also. FWIW tech support was very vague (obtuse) about it. It took 4 emails to get the info I just gave you.

Hi all.. Im a brand new 55F8000 owner as from 2 days ago.

Would like some help if posible please?

Firstly, I love the panel.

I do have a couple of issues that I'd like some help with please.

1. Input lag with xbox one

I'm trying to find the best setting for the XBONE, I've tried HDMI, way too much lag. I then tried Game setting, it was better but still noticable lag. Finally I changed the HDMI to PC and lag was better but the picture quality seems very poor. At one point (Battlefield 4) It almost looked like someone had put a cloth bag over my head. It was washed out and very dark.

I've read in this VERY LONG forum that the latest firmware, which I think I'm on (1116) has tackled this issue. Can anyone update me please if this is right and share some settings with me?

2. Media streaming / refresh issue

I use a Synology NAS and the tv can see / talk to it. BUT.. if I update the NAS with new material, it's not showing up on the TV. I can't find anywhere within the menu to refresh the information. The only way I've managed to do this is open up my laptop, log onto the Synology, turn off the media server then turn it back on again. A real pain in the bum.. is there a way to refresh the media player please?

3. TV lost all network connections twice

The tv has now lost ALL network connections to my router (hard wired at present). It could see the router and was connected, but it could access the internet. I know it wasn't my internet connection as my Roku player and XBONE still worked and these are connected to the same router.

I went into the menu system to try and find a way to refresh / reset the connection, I couldn't locate anything. One thing I noticed whilst there was that the setup menu was greyed out.. about 20 mins went by and I went back to the TV and the connection was working again and the setup option was also back.

As I said, this has happened twice in two days now. The only common link I can see, both times it happened I had been viewing Netflix.. is this an issue I should be concerned about?

4. Registration of DIVX

I've completed the online registration for DIVX to play, I've downloaded the DIVX file and put it onto my NAS. When I go into the media player on the TV and try to play the file, it just says the format is not supported. How do I complete this process please?

thanks in advance for any help..

1. Input lag with Xbox One solution:

Use Game Mode instead of PC Mode. Switch to your Xbox One input and turn off PC Mode and go to Menu > System > General > Game Mode > On

Then apply these picture settings. These should look stunning in comparison to PC Mode and should give you very low input lag.

Sharpness 0 (20 max)
Color 60

White Balance:

Thanks for this quick answer. I've used your suggestions and yes, a great improvement.
I'm unable to locate the Smart LED setting anywhere on the settings menu, can you advise where this is please.
Thanks again

I have the American version of the F8000 so the Smart LED feature may be a different name on your version or your version does not have it. Smart LED is described as "Automatically adjust brightness of individual areas on screen for maximum contrast." in the Picture Options menu for me.

I am returning my LE650 Sharp 70 INCH because CNET says the F8000 has perfect uniformity (no white spots due to its "Ultimate Micro Dimming and Precision Black Local Dimming" where Samsung claims that it gets rid of white spots.

Is this a lie? I've seen all these responses of problems with white spots/clouding/flashlighting like my LE650 has.

I'm going to order from Amazon if the TV is truly perfectly uniform, but is it? If not does anyone have a suggestion for a big screen LED?

*Getting the 65 inch, if the white spot problem is fixed

I have the 55" F8000 TS01. No uniformity complaints from me. I've had my F8000 since July of 2013. Here are some pictures at max backlight:

My lamp is reflecting off the screen so that's why there is a faint rainbow effect to the right. But overall, the uniformity is AMAZING on my F8000. Be sure to buy an F8000 from a local store that has at least 3 in stock so in store exchanges are easy and hassle free.

Did you do any sort of calibration. If so, what kind?

I did my calibration by eye. Samsung includes a greyscale pattern in the picture settings menu that really helps adjusting the white balance using only your eye.

That is most likely the cause.

I just bought a Samsung UN55F8000 a couple of weeks ago. Despite my being in California and ordering from an American company, the unit I received was a Canadian model (UN55F8000AFXZC) instead of the U.S. model (UN55F8000BFXZA). Apparently Samsung accidentally shipped a Canadian model to the supplier by mistake.

Anyway, I was tearing my hair out trying to figure out why I didn't have the "Smart LED" option, which controls the Precision Black feature. Turns out European (UK) and Canadian models don't have it, or at least it's not advertised on Samsung UK / Samsung Canada websites' F8000 pages.

Whether or not Precision Black actually makes any real difference, I don't know -- I've heard folks on these and other forums say that enabling Smart LED makes a really noticeable difference in blacks. However, I don't know if that necessarily means that the Canadian and UK models would have sub-par PQ if you put it side-by-side with a U.S. one. I find it hard to believe that the U.S. model has additional hardware-based dimming that they stripped out of international models. I just don't know.

I'm still trying to decide whether to keep the set or not. The seller has offered an additional 5 year warranty and $150 refund if I want to keep it. Still kind of peeved that I might not be getting the best PQ.

dfsax, read the first couple sections of this http://www.hdtvtest.co.uk/news/samsung-ue55f8000-201303212755.htm?page=Performance

This UK website reviewed the UK version and they were a bit confused on what backlight dimming features were and were not included in the UK version. Needless to say, HDTV test still said: "The Samsung UE55F8000 is a true upgrade over last year’s ES8000 series, and is the best LED LCD television that we’ve ever tested when it comes to picture quality." So you shouldn't feel like you're getting the short end of the deal, it's still a great television with or without the extra bell or whistle.

Overall, the F8000 is still the best "future proof" 1080p LED to buy. The 2014 1080p LED flagships from Samsung and Sony have been relatively underwhelming and a step backwards coming from the superb 2013 models. Sony's 2013 W900A 1080p flagship was very good but it suffered heavily on black level and color uniformity and dead pixel issues. If your F8000 is free of uniformity problems my advice to you would be: keep it!

I will be more than happy to post some picture settings for you to really get the F8000 looking even more stunning.

Thanks DRN94, that's good to know about the 2014 flagships. Makes me feel a bit better about my F8000. There's the tiniest bit of flashlighting in the lower corners -- and by tiny, I don't mean soft, but very focused and narrow flashlights. I could probably live with it. Overall, the uniformity seems very good.

I saw that article on the UE**F8000 as well. I'm convinced that it's still a good TV, even without Precision Black, but I wish there was a side-by-side comparison of the UE and UN models so we could know for sure.

With the $150 discount, I'm getting a heckuva deal -- many hundreds of dollars less than if I had bought from Amazon -- so I'm leaning towards keeping the TV. I just need to convince myself that it's not significantly worse than the US F8000. I'm running it in Movie mode, and from what I can tell movie mode disables local dimming anyway, though whether it disables the "Micro Dimming Ultimate" part (which I have) or the "Precision Black" part (which I don't have), I'm not sure. On your set, do you still get the Smart LED option if you're in Movie mode?

I still have all the dimming and Smart LED features available in Movie Mode. Movie Mode has the most picture options available in comparison to the other modes. Movie Mode is this set's strength due to the accuracy of the image so as far as I know, Samsung wouldn't disable any features on the F8000's Movie Mode like they sometimes do on the lower end models.

I just got the UN60F8000, and the following items under Picture Options are disabled out of the box:

- HDMI Black Level
- Film Mode
- Cinema Black

Could anyone tell me what the matter is?
