You can't until they add the app which who knows how long that will be if ever. I have to use my smart blu ray player to use it.

Suddenly my display has a purple haze over the entire screen. this is the only way I can describe it. I have gone through every cross check to figure out what has happened to no avail

I can see the image--but it is totally washed out --as though it has a dense purple filter over the entire screen.

Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks Sommers

That doesn't sound normal at all. Have you tried resetting the TV to factory defaults? If so then I'd be calling Sharp.

fyi
I called Sharp service 5 hours ago (before I fixed it)---nice guy--after some minor tweaking---he said he'd have to ask his techs and assured me he would call me back WITHIN the hour

zero call back as of now----not holding my breath

Thanks Sommers

thank you!! I have been troubleshooting why my backlight comes on after 15minutes on my 80" for months. thought it was my lan connection (nope). thought that it was my denon receiver (nope). thought that it was my family (nope). ended up being an option that is totally reversed. standby control off seems to mean keep the unit on, and Standby control On means shut down. Wow!! had this tv since it came out. love it but the backlight shining in the dark when it was suppose to be off was driving me nuts. Also have a 60" version. oddly, that one is not showing the same behavior. Nice quality control. rolleyes.gif

Hello folks,

I've had my LC-80LE857U since last November. I experienced the audio sync problem early on, and I've been following this thread since then. Today I got around to upgrading the firmware to the latest version "OKLA_LE857_153.UVP" (TEL_SOFT_LE650-657-750-755-757-857U_153U1312121). I also changed my main input from my VIP722K (Dish Network) from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2. The audio sync issue is still a problem. As others have experienced, the problem is intermittent, but happens fairly often, and changing the channel and back again fixes the problem for a while.
I am not using any of the motion enhancements.

Has anyone yet gotten a definitive fix from Sharp or anybody about this?

I don't use HDMI 1 and have had no issues. HDMI 1 has an audio feature that appears to cause sync issues.

Yes, that's why I moved from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2.

Wow. That sucks.

Will you be getting the same television as a replacement?

Not sure yet. Deciding between the new Sharp Q+ TV or a Samsung. I would like to get a Samsung but the Sharp offers much more value for the money.... Will decide next week.

Hey guys,

I just bought a bowers and wilkins 600 series surround sound 5.1 and receiver for my family room and I am now looking for an 80 inch TV

My current TV is a sharp aquos 52 inch from 2007, the room is 20x20 and the seats are close to the back wall... maybe 18 feet from TV

I was looking at the 857U and they have come down a ton in the last few months but I am also nervous about the whole 2.0 hdmi and some of the remarks I have seen just going through some of the posts here. Do you guys think I should try to get a 857u for around 4,000-4400 or wait on the Q series at 5400 that is coming out? Or perhaps another brand?

Thanks for your help!

Steve

Hmmm, tough question.... the 857 is now a good deal since the price has dropped. But the new Q+ TVs do offer some interesting new features (higher resolution with 4K playing capability (not a 4K TV), THX certified, improved smart central). I think you should also consider the 75" Samsungs, 75F7100 and 75F8000. They are in the same price range you are looking at and are also top rated TV's. I do think the 857 has one of the best pictures on the market, but the Samsungs probably have better software and feature design with a top picture as well. I cannot give you a direct answer yet because I will be making this same decision next week and these are the TV's I am considering.

I was considering the samsung 75 inch 8000 series too. The new q series looks nice but not sure I want to spend an extra grand on it. Let me know what you do we're in the same boat my friend

How common is the audio sync issue? Would hate to set it up and my new bowers dont shine. I'm hesitant to get the new Q series this early in the game at 5400 knowing it will be at 4,000 in 8 months thats why I waited on the 857 but now im not sure if the TV is worth the risk

Just bought the newer version of the 857 the LC-80UQ17U. I got it at a superb price from Chris at clevelandplasma.com. He really took the time on the phone and we got it done. I'm excited about getting this tv! Chris has great reviews on here and on internet rating guides so if your in the market for a new sharp or any tv I would call him before you buy elsewhere.

I posted this in another thread but since it deals with  a Sharp TV I wanted to post it here too...

Quote:

Just want to give a little shout out as I am all done and waiting for my equipment to arrive. I will have some pictures once it is all set up. Hard to believe that only 45 days ago I came on here and knew absolutely nothing about audio and next to nothing about tv's; only that I loved my 52 inch Sharp Aquos I bought in 2007 and that I probably made a silly purchase getting the bose 3-2-1 system back then.

My New TV

Sharp Aquos LC-80UQ17U

www.clevelandplasma.com

Chris at clevelandplasma was awesome. I was looking through google and trying to find a good price on this TV and his site came up. I did some research to find that his ratings are off the chart good and then saw some links on him that was directed to this forum. Then I realized that he is a member on here and a sponsor. He took the time on the phone and answered all my questions, made me feel good about the purchase and I knew I was getting an excellent price to say the least. No reason to get a new TV anywhere else. Thanks Chris!

My New Receiver

Denon 4520ci

www.safeandsoundhq.com

www.avscience.com

Mike and Dave where excellent and in doing some research on them I found out fast that they have an excellent reputation for customer service and satisfaction. They were a pleasure on the phone and so easy to get in touch with. I initially ordered the X-4000 and thanks to Chise and others on the site decided I needed to go up to the 4520's if I was going to do this right. These guys redirected the receiver back to their store and the same day got the 4520 ready to go for me. Very professional yet friendly on the phone and made me feel at ease with my purchase. Price was fantastic too. Also want to thank AVscience as I know they are on here too. I didn't make a purchase from them but I would consider them in the future along with safeandsound. Both companies do outstanding work and I appreciate it greatly.

My New Speakers

www.bestbuy.com

Bowers and Wilkins 683's S1
Bowers and Wilkins htm61 S1
Bowers and Wilkins 685's S1

Say what you want about the big chains they can be good too especially when they want to move out a older series of speakers and make room for the new. And yes... you can negociate with them despite them being a big chain. I was at the one in West Nyack, NY and Paul there did a outstanding job with me. I got a pair of brand new unopened 683's that they were trying to sell for 1200 (1500 a few weeks ago) and I got them down to 1000 for the pair. I got a floor model of htm61 and 685's well below what they were trying to sell them for too. Felt great leaving the place and I know I got a great value based on my research and the help of others on here.

My new Subs

Dual PB 1000's

www.svsound.com

Really took the time on the phone as I asked many questions about what was right for me with the speakers that I bought and the dimensions of my room, gave me a great price for the 2 speakers and I hear nothing but great things about their speakers on and them on here.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sounds like I love everyone right? Not the case but the above are the ones that really shined, helped me out, and in the end I went with them and am so glad I did. If you are looking for anything in TV's and audio I would highly recommend any of the above I don't think you can go wrong and because of that I wanted to thank them and give them a shout out on the forum. Thanks guys I really appreciate it!

I have returned my 857 that was purchased a few months ago. Sharp had decided that they could not resolve audio sync problem and provided a authorization to return. I returned the TV and purchased the 2014 Q17+. This TV is the perfect compromise between a HD and a higher priced Ultra HD TV since it can accept Ultra HD and downconvert to a HD+ (a little bit higher res than HD). The picture quality is excellent and the features are top shelf. Excellent TV! Except...........

I still have the audio sync problem!!!! Will likely have to return this TV and get a different brand TV. Very disappointed.

Yes, I suspect most people will not have the problem. My theory is that Sharp TVs simply does not always track the audio signal from my cable company. The problem has to be unique to the Sharp TVs because it does not occur when a different brand TV is used..... It is disappointing because I think it is a very good TV and a good value, but I cant live with this problem after paying so much money....

Changing services could be an option. But why pay a lot of money for a TV that has a design flaw when you can buy one that does not????

I can get Verizon Fios in my area I actually have it for my internet. Only reason I use D-TV is because of the NFL Sunday Ticket and because I heard it has a great picture. I wonder how my TV would do with the Fios though.

Every TV is gonna have some flaws. Is it a TV issue or is it an issue because of the provider? Who knows, it takes two to dance or in this case to get it right (audio). My D-TV and my 80 inch Sharp 17UQ are dancing quite nicely so far. The PB dual 1000's make my family room sound like a movie theatre when I put in an explosive Blu-Ray
