As of yet I have the M501D-AR2 and have not received a firmware update.

Those who have received the 1.04 update, can you check to see if you have 3DGO! in the yahoo connect store? Apparently it has launched on the M-Series models that we all have yet I am not able to see it in the store. This is a 3D VOD store from Sensio and uses the Sensio 3D HiFi format.

I am curious to see the quality vs Vudu 3D vs. SBS vs. Blu-Ray. I've tested out the Vudu 3D and for some reason it appears better than other SBS I have used in the past. Not sure if they are using Sensio as well...

Thanks!

Does anyone know if the optical out of this TV outputs 2-channel audio or if it is a complete pass through? I'm thinking of buying a 50" together with the S4251w-B4 5.1 Soundbar, but the downside is that it doesn't have any HDMI inputs!

If your a gamer make sure you change your picture to game, otherwise it looks like there is a lot of lag. Can't really notice any lag at all when set to game. cool.gif

I have a M501d-A2R and have NOT gotten the firmware update yet. After following procedure, been waiting 2 days now and no update. After a quick look at past posts, seems like the people with the 55 inch model have reported getting the firmware update.

i have a 55, i dont have it yet. The original poster that talked to support found out it rolls out in batches and no amount of forcing will get you the firmware if you aren't in the current batch

When I switched the TV to bitstream instead of PCM, I got Dolby. Switched it back to PCM and went to a movie (Act Of Valor) and it came down with Dolby.

I dug into the Denon's input settings and manually assigned it to PCB and after turning everything off and back on that did the trick. I don't think the 591 supports bitstream so now the ARC is working properly.

I bought the 65" from Costco today. It is far more reflective than the other models but I also feel that it is brighter and has a cleaner look due to the screen finish. I much more prefer the reflective surface on this over the matte finish, if there is a direct light on it you will see the reflection but a matte the screen would be dulled out anyway.
As far as 3D, the vudu 3D is great. Directv that is SBS will not display correctly as I understand that I need the new firmware. Well I can wait I guess.

I have the 2012 model, and use the optical out. It passes Dolby Digital 5.1, but it does not pass DTS. I expect that the 2013 models do the same.

I have the 50" and my firmware is V1.04.955M90

I've had the TV since May 31st, but i'm not sure if the firmware was updated since then or not, I didn't check the firmware version when I first set it up. I have not unplugged it since I set it up though, so no full power restart. This TV is amazing, it's been working great. I have directv and the 3d channels work perfectly - the time of day on the info top pane is accurate for me, and I have full access to switching 3d content via the remotes 3d button. For example I could be watching regular TV on directv and force the TV to display 3D in SBS, TB, or Sensio (looks goofy of course but it does it).

I haven't had any issues with the remote - I got my directv remote re-programmed to pick up this vizio, so i mainly use that to turn it on/off. The directv remote even handles TV input switching which is nice too. I do see sometimes the dimming in the corners for a small period of time when a bright solid colored image displays...for example the bright green preview screen on a movie trailer, or those FBI warnings on some blurays, etc - not a big deal as it goes away quickly and once movies/TV are playing the picture is flawless. To be honest i'm coming from a 7 year old 720p rear-projection LCD Sony TV, so this is leaps and bounds better than what i had before. At it's price point, I don't think it can be beat.

I've had the 55" since 6/2 I put it in my office as a (work) pc and gaming display, that's where I spend most of my time. I believe that I had the new firmware right out of the box, But I'm not sure.

My PS3 and PC are hooked up to a sammy ht-e5500w thru hdmi, my tv is connected to the ht thru hdmi1 (arc). It all works great, I get 5.1 while watching air channels when 5.1 is present. great sound when watching movies and shows on netflix thru the PS3. 3D works well, Games and Movies look above average to me and my family. We have a sam 65f8000 in upstairs den and sharp 80 le857 in basement theater. So I have a couple displays to compare against, It's actually a great tv for it's picture quality.

Don't forget to set picture to game while gaming it helps out a lot with video lag issues. My vizio remote works the whole setup the HT and the PS3 have no issues working along with this tv. The PC acts weird with it I thought that it was my last displays problem but I think it's my video cards fault.

Anybody else have any picture settings that they would like to share with us.

Damn you defboob... why can't we all be that lucky! Now can you tell me this question no one has answered...

Does the app 3DGo! appear in your yahoo connect marketplace? It does not appear on my tv with the old firmware. It is supposed to rival the quality of Vudu and look as good as Blu-Ray. http://www.3dgo.com/

Please someone let me know!

I got the 50" less than a week ago and I all ready like it. It can pick up the 3d signal whe playing blackops 2 on my ps3 it will not see a 3d signal while trying to do dual play. When trying to watch 3d content from Comcast it will only work when I start the movie or channel and change inputs on the TV and then come back to the cable input and then the tv will see the 3d signal. Also I found out that the button on the Comcast remote on the very bottom left in the "Pip" area can adjust a setting having to do with 3d, it says 3dSS, 3dTB or 3d-a. I was messing with that and was able to get the 3d channels as well as the OD 3d content. My clock on the info screen is still incorrect as well. So I guess I'm waiting for that 1.04 update and hopeing it will fix my issues.

Costco and Sams have both dropped the 55 inch to $999!!!

Very exciting. Going to try to get Costco to give me back the difference.

Also, still no firmware update for me frown.gif

I was excited about this TV and had narrowed down to Panasonic ST60 60" vs. M Series 60" - but after reading through here maybe the Panny ST60 is a more prudent choice- not much complaining on the ST60 thread. How does this 60" M Series handle glare?
I have a 2005 Panasonic Plasma that is rock solid but looks like a mirror during the day because of ambient light thru 2 windows across from it - curtains are must!
IMO TV's ability to handle glare should be one of the biggest considerations.

The glare, as well as the bad smart dimming, was why I took mine back and ended up with th Panasonic 50S64. I figured if I had to hang blinds for the glossy LED, why not go with the plasma instead. The AR filter on this set makes it comparable to the M series and doesn't have the washout seen on the plasmas without it. Knowing that the performance on the st60 is better then the s64, I think you will be happier with the plasma. As far as I see the only difference is the energy usage between the m series and st60. I can send you a comparison of glare between the two sets if you would like...

I have the following setup:

HTPC with 2 video cards with HDMI. 1 HDMI goes to TV input 1 and 1 HDMI goes to 5 year old receiver with hdmi inputs and outputs. I also have an HDMI from receiver to the TV input 2.

With CEC enabled, while watching HDMI 1 (the HTPC), I can control the receiver on HDMI 2. It's pretty sweet actually.

However, I'm having a serious issue with turning on the TV set if everything is turned off. It literally turns on and 5-10 seconds later turns off. It's infuriating.. and if the fiance has to troubleshoot this she'll kill me.

I get around this by turning everything else on and waking the HTPC from sleep. After an attempt or two, the TV stays on and properly displays the HTPC.

I turned CEC off this morning and am pretty certain that it turns on reliably now.

I've never been a big fan of CEC because every set I've had has had some sort of glitch with it.

If I ever get the darn new firmware, I'll test it out again.

The 55 now only $200 more than the 50...hmmm. Good thing I'm waiting on a rent deposit return from my last house or I would have bought the 50 by now and would have been cursing up a storm when I saw this. The 55 is in the running now.

After reviewing the continued posts in here about the lowering of prices on the 50, 55, 60 and now 65" Vizio M series models from Sams and Costco, I'm really hoping that the 70 and 80" models (when they finally come out) will follow the same price lowering path as the others. I really want to see how the 80" stacks up against the Sharps! I bet it will much better! At my local Sam's here, they always put the large TV's in the front as you walk into the store. They had a Sharp 80" there forever until it finally sold out. I'm hoping they do the same for the M801D. Moving into a new house on July 5th with a big family "Great Room" that I would love to hang an 80" on the wall in.

They're both pretty equally glossy. The Vizio might appear a bit more glossy if only because it's larger.

Even if they are not on sale when they release they will go on sale within a month or so and you can always just take your receipt back in the store and they will give the the difference right there!

That's what I plan on doing, I don't want to wait for the price to drop I will just buy the 70" at 2300 and when it goes down I will just go back in and get my money back.

My hope is that since the 70" is already listed for sale on Costco.com for full price that it will go on sale before it's actually out in stores in a week or so! But either way once it hits the floor for sale I will have one in my living room that night! smile.gif

Hi curtishd,

I'm considering the 65", but the 8ms response time scares me.

What's your experience with the 65" so far? Any motion blur or lag with gaming?

Thanks in advance!

Below is the information I received from Costco regarding the 70" Model ... I will know more next Friday when I call to see if the delivery to the DC was made and everything is on schedule.

No info on the 80 since that model is not in the system yet and doesn't have an item # to reference.

For me though the 70" is the sweet spot and I've gone through 3 different tv's in about the last year trying to find the right one so I hope this one is my last (got the Sharp 70" then a Vizio 65 and now the Vizio 70 E-Series and none of them have been up to par or have had issues).

Update on 70" to be in-stock in local stores!

Spoke with a Costco manager today and he said that all Costco distribution centers are due to receive the shipment from Vizio on the 70" models on the 13th.

He said they will ship out the next day and it normally takes 2-3 days for shipment from the DC to the store.

As long as everything goes to plan on what is scheduled in the system he said most all stores that are carrying this model should have them on the shelf no later then the 16th or 17th !!!

He told me to call back on the 14th and he can tell me if the DC received them and if they have shipped to the store.

Looks like we're all good to go for those of us waiting for it to arrive in store this month.

If you would like to get this information from your local store call the store and ask them to give you an update on item# 907010

They will give you an exact date as well then these are due to arrive.

Hope this helps.
