I think $1400 for a tv that didn't make it to it's 2nd birthday seems fair. [extreme sarcasm]

I learned the hard way. A 5 year Squaretrade warranty is now a part of any TV purchase in my future, regardless of brand.

Turned on my 2013 M65 today to a "Revised privacy policy update" message. Looks like the firmware is the same (1.60.10-20.0643_125).

Anyone else get this and/or know what the update/change was?

It was probably something for one of the apps on the TV. Perhaps youtube, or Netflix.

Now that I (sadly) have a better understanding of my dead pixel dilemma...and the NUMEROUS reports of others with the same problem, I'm really curious how many crap panels they let out of their factory.

In the post-CRT era, I've yet to have a TV that makes it to year 5. The first time, I took it on the chin to the tune of $1,500 after 2 years. For the next TV, I wised up and bought from Costco and added Squaretrade to cover myself through year 5. Only 23 months in, and Squaretrade was refunding me my full purchase price for a dead panel.

Was wondering if anyone knows what is causing this halo issue pictured below, I don't see it in dark scenes, only brighter scenes. The TV is 60 M 2013 series. I tried everything in the book to correct it. Hopefully Squaretrade wont stress me out with a fix or replacement. TV was bought Feb 2014. Thanks in advance.

Turn off Dimming.

I have Dimming and Black Detail Off most of the time.

It depends how much you are bothered with this 'halo' effect with Dimming On or not.

It's the nature of how these TVs work with FALD (Full Array Local Dimming), I suppose.

I get a bit of this 'halo' effect too, with my 2014 P50 if I have Dimming On.

I appreciate your input, but like I said, I tried everything...this is not a dimming issue. On or Off its still there. I don't mind edge bleeding etc...but this is annoying. Backlight, Contrast, 11 pt White Calibration etc tweaking doesn't make it go away. Anycase, Squaretrade says based on these photos, its a "panel imperfection" and they won't do anything about it. Thank you

Ooh. My bad. The 2014 P50 is Full-Array. I will say, some ads and certain screen shots do intentionally have a halo effect.

I have a M Series 60 in tv from 2013. It's been a great tv with no problems at all till now. I was watching a Blu-ray movie the other night, when all
of sudden a black line poped up on the center of the screen. It runs from the right side of the screen and starts to fade out about 3/4 of the way to the left side of the screen. It shows up on Directv, cable, roku, and the computer. Has anyone had this problem? If so what is it and how do I fix it?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Waiting for my M65 to arrive from Costco.

Just a question, from what I understand only HDMI1 on the TV has ARC.

My intentions were to run everything through HDMI5, and all my devices switched through my Denon s710w which passes through 4K video.

For people like me, what do you do for the audio on the TV Smart Apps? Do you need to run optical in this case?

When I used the apps on my TV, I used an optical (TosLink) to my receiver from the TV. Seemed to work fine. I don't use the apps on the TV anymore though, I just rely on my bluray player for netflix and my wife uses the bluray as well for pandora.

Hate to be the one to tell you this.. but this sounds like a failure in your TV's panel. The only fix is to replace the panel which pretty much means replacing the TV.

Someone more knowledgeable correct me if I am mistaken.

What is a good soundbar w/ wireless sub that would sit in front of my M601D without blocking the TV. My old Vizio bar was too tall then I tried the Onkyo base unit and it died. I'd like to go back to a soundbar.

Anyone remember/know if we should be setting consoles to RGB Full or Limited? This is with the 2013 55in M-series.

Limited. Full will only work on wide color gamut displays.

Your panel is shot. If you look at the previous page, you'll see photos of my screen...which I'll wager look similar to your screen. I dealt with it for 3 months, but can't anymore as the rows of dead pixels are multiplying.

Sadly, we both need to buy ourselves a belated Christmas present.
