Hello.

I'm sure that this question has been brought up many, many times...

What are some good LCD TV's currently on the market for 1K?

I'm upgrading from a 42" LCD Insignia (bought 4 years ago).

I'm looking for something in the 46- 55" range. This TV will be used in a family room that has allot of sunlight, mainly used to watch TV (sports) and movies at night. I'm not interested in 3D. A SmartTV is a plus, but not really needed as I will be using an XBOX for Netflix, etc. Also, audio isn't a big deal as I will be using an external system.

I'm mainly interested in getting the best TV (picture wise) for the $$$.

My budget is 1K.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Is the $1000 a rough limit or fixed in stone?

It pretty much fixed in stone.

My budget only allows for 1K.

Thanks.

The range you mention hits two distinct sizes. Is there a preference between the 46"-class and 55"-class?

Here's the Sony 46" KDL750, currently at $1098 (but prices are tumbling from now until the 2013 models are out during the next few months). http://www.amazon.com/Sony-BRAVIA-KDL46HX750-46-Inch-Internet/dp/B006U1VGW4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1360606766&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+750
The folks I know with Sonys have always been happy with it's interpolative rendition of motion, it's a 240Hz, and the sonys I've seen have better off-angle vewing than most others in their respective price ranges.

Here's the 47LM7600, currently at $1067 (but prices falling), http://www.amazon.com/LG-47LM7600-47-Inch-LED-LCD-Glasses/dp/B006ZH0KVG/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1360607006&sr=1-2&keywords=lm7600, it's primarily known for it's 3D, is 240Hz, but does have flashlighting issues/light-bleed issues.

And if you want 55", consider the Samsung 55EH6000 (not a slim model) http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0074FGSBY
