I haven't owned a TV in the past five years, though I've owned multiple monitors, and I am clueless as to what features I need to look for on a TV nowadays.

My budget for a TV is ~$2000. I want a display that is bigger than 50 inches diagonally, has 1080p resolution, can handle 3D, and is gaming friendly, meaning there is no noticeable lag between my input and the images. I do not really care for "smart tv" features as I have my own home media server and I plan to connect the TV to it.

Are there any basics concepts I should be reading about, any models I should use as a reference, or any TV that is a perfect match to my needs?

Thank you in advance for any help and suggestion.
