Has anyone pre-ordered this tv yet or is everyone waiting for release and the ensuing reviews?

It's usually a week or two after a release before mainstream reviewers get published right?

None really that reliable. Half of these sites I've never heard of.

Hell, I can blog a review too. Doesn't mean I know what I'm talking about.

"Living too much in Colorado"??? Not too sure what that means but I travel out of the country often so I would consider myself pretty verse in different cultures.

I'm not sure how you would connect my unfamiliarity with a European review or a site that has been unproven to me to European's sucking.

I drive a Mercedes Benz and wear Bruno Magli shoes so I'd have to say Europeans make some pretty good stuff. That's why I own them. I'll check out hdtvtest as soon as they have their review posted. I'm sure someone will put a link up in the thread. I just hope that the Indians haven't knocked out our internet again and isolated everyone in Colorado from the rest of the World for a second time this year.

Nenito2k,

I have to be honest. Half the time I can't tell if you are trying to insult us or your messages are just extremely fluid and easily taken out of context.

Two reviews now reporting crazy low input lag, interesting. This might be the best TV out there for gamers. Never thought we'd see a TV LCD owning plasmas in this category.

Vaxick,

Does this also mean it would be a great tv to watch live sports on?

So I returned a Panasonic VT60 at Best Buy recently and the return is pending apparently. It would appear that since this is my 2nd tv I'm returning the manager would like to exchange instead of return. I told them this was the set I was interested in and he seems to think he can special order the set. I'm happy to help them because I know returns hurt their numbers however I hate to buy a tv based on stuff online having never seen the set in person. They still don't have an eta on the tv at Best Buy. They seem to think they can order me one though.

I think the w900a will be coming out very soon everywhere. This is a local retailer in the KC Area and the link on their webpage says it's in stock/available for pickup today.

It's said that too on this website but today it says In-Stock. I added to cart and proceeded to checkout and it still says pick it up today. It's a trusted website that's always current. I'm going to call them to confirm.

Update: It's in stock and available for pickup. Just confirmed with store manger. (913)-288-6200 Nebraska Furniture Mart.

There you have it, the new champion of gaming tvs is here. But what will determine if you get the set or not is how deep your wallet is.

Viewing angle looks to be bad just like the 950.

Viewing angle doesn't concern me much since gaming or most any viewing is generally head on anyway. I wouldn't let that get in the way of the lowest input lag available. I've heard from an amateur that the W802a series is scoring about this well in input lag too, but this is not yet confirmed by any professional review site.

still......one of the SELLING point of this TV is TriLuminos....and at the END...it is USELESS !!!! Marketing is incredible....and the sad thing is that people are believers.....clearly this TV is a big upgrade to the W8....but it's just to damn expensive...as reviews are not as enthusiastic as the plasmas: ST/GT/VT 60 and the one from samsung the F8500

Tri Luminos is not useless ,.If you have the Re-mastered X.V color blu ray from Sony you will get to see the advantage of Tri Luminos.

Currently most videos are in REC709 which isn't what the director intend to show

http://www.techradar.com/news/television/tv/six-marvels-of-the-4k-revolution-at-sony-pictures-studios-in-la-1146838

http://www.hometheater.com/content/sony-springs-4k

http://m.cnet.com.au/sony-mastered-in-4k-blu-rays-a-mixed-blessing-339344100.htm

Those who own Sony 2013 cameras and camcorder they again shoot in extended tri-luminos colors.

The proposed UHD standard again has a lot to do with why Sony is pushing the Tri luminos

@aim120....you said the word useless using 2 sentences....i already new that...that is why i said useless !!!!!!!!!
No one has 4K blurays and no one will care...Plus that is speculation at this point anyway....no one will know until reviews pop up. Hope that people will not be stupid...as REMASTERED DB are just a reason sony uses make people buy again & again the same movies !mad.gifmad.gif

No offense but who cares about how good the plasma reviews are? Apples and oranges. Some people don't like plasmas and vice versa. The F8500 does look really good but I'm not a plasma person and I'm interested in the w900a only if the screen is uniform and has a good PQ. I had the 950 briefly and wasn't impressed mainly because of the poor HD among cable/sat channels. Blu-Ray was great and I probably would've kept it but the $3500 for a 55" was too pricey considering cable/sat channels looked marginal at best. The Tri-Luminos is not a selling point for me but an added feature that might be cool. I wouldn't go out and buy a TV just because it has 3-D but if it does, great. Right now the w900a looks to be one of the better LCD/LEDs out there but obviously won't buy until U.S. Reviews come out or more owners chime in. I personally expect to pay about $2500 or so for a 55" so the $2700 is not bad for me. Plasma TVs are generally cheaper for the same or better TV in size and PQ but obviously not everyone likes plasma.

So happy the review was great and this really settles it for me. most likely I'm going to buy
This TV and the new Sony 1040 AVR. Do you thing the PS4 will take advantage of the extra wide
color gamut?? Also does HDTV test post the calibration settings?

"Of course, viewing angle is probably less of an issue when it comes to console gaming, which is arguably as solitary an activity as you can get involving a TV (we’re referring to sitting alone in front of the screen, rather than playing online multiplayer games). With [Game Mode] enabled, the Sony KDL-55W905A is easily the best gaming HDTV we’ve seen to date, thanks to the lowest input lag on record, full 4:4:4 reproduction (for PC games), and zero risk of image retention or screenburn (unlike plasmas). Should you wish to reduce the motion blur typical of LCDs, Sony even offers the option of engaging [Motionflow] “Impulse” in [Game Mode], but from our experience this introduced a bit too much flicker and brightness dip for our liking."

Picked mine up from Sony last night and returned the W802a. Couldn't stand the black levels on that, had clouding and pretty DSE so I decided to go with this instead and so glad I did. Been trying to find a TV I have been happy with for months since I have been really anal about light bleed and stuff so it is nice for that quest to appear to be at it's end finally since I have not noticed any banding, DSE, clouding, light bleed etc. Blacks are nice and the colors are fantastic. The one area of the W802a that had really impressed me was the color other than the blacks and this is even better. The best I have experienced from a TV I have purchased personally. I can't comment on it versus Plasma as much as Nenito would want me to say it is awful compared to a Plasma. The buzzing annoys me and the phosphor trails give me severe headaches much like the rainbow effect on DLP used to. Anyway, I am no TV expert or anything so I am not going to be pulling out charts and stuff and all I can say is the blacks, colors and PQ are amazing to me.

And gaming is so smooth on this. I am going to say the W802a doesn't have the same input lag as somebody mentioned they heard it might a few posts ago since this seems much better to me that that did. But again I am not expert and my mind could just be playing tricks on me.

Was also worried the chrome stand would bug me and be more reflective than the W802a stand but have not noticed it.

Anyway, these are probably some of the most pathetic impressions ever posted on this forum so eventually somebody better will post some impressions tongue.gif

Tried to take some pictures but my camera and photo skills are not the greatest either tongue.gif Will spoiler them to prevent scrolling.

Wow!! How is the viewing angle and the glare with the lights on or in day light?
Also how about some side angle snaps? Thanks.
