Is there any other 1080p LED TV that you guys feel is comparable to the W9 by another manufacturer? Is the Samsung F8000 series close?

Now I normally wouldnt say this because I have no love for Samsung but yes the F8000 is comparable to the W900A. In fact the Samsung F8000 was the direct competitor to the W900A. So if you couldnt find a W900A and wanted to go with the Samsung F8000 I wouldnt have an issue with your choice. Read the cnet artice on the F8000. David Katzmaier gives it high praise.

Hello!I've just bought the w905 and I'm so happy with the purchase. But I've one question... where is the usage time in the service menu? (Pushing +i, vol+, 5 and power on). I didn't find it. Thanks for all!

What you need to do is push Display, Vol -, then power and it will be at the bottom left hand corner. The first set of numbers will be Hours, Second set of numbers will be the Boot Up Time Count and the last set of numbers will be the Panel Hours. Hope this helps.

Thank you very much!! The only thing that I need to do now is calibrate it.

Any configuration that works nice?

Thanks again!

Your welcome. As for calibration ideas? First you can get your set Professionally Calibrated as I did or you can go to soundandvision.com and try out Tom Nortons excellent settings for the w900a.

Occasional, soft "tick" sound from back of set

Anyone ever notice an occasional, soft "tick" sound coming from the back of the KDL-55W900A, when the set is turned off? I am guessing it's nothing serious--perhaps checking for a software update, checking the Internet connectivity, pushing out cookie data to Sony, or something similar? It doesn't happen too often, maybe once or twice daily (I have yet to sit silently in front of the screen 24 hours, to see exactly how often it makes the noise lol). I'm mainly just curious why it makes that "tick." On the whole...still 99% satisfied with this beautiful set. (The 1% unsatisfied is due to the partially-functional NHL GameCenter LIVE app, which isn't streaming live hockey at present...I hope Sony's working on a fix.) Thanks!

Yes, it is not occasional I hear it every time, its the relay in the power supply. Normal behavior, nothing to worry about.

Gents,
This TV's Netflix app won't stream Netflix 3D? Is this correct? If so, why? (Netflix US - if this is relevant!)

Well I didn't even know Netflix had 3D before my colleague told me he streamed something on his new Samsung (don't know the model). So I tried looking and my menu doesn't even show 3D category within Netflix, so I looked a little around on the internet and found it could be model specific, it could also be a different app that needs to be loaded, not sure at this moment.

So I threw it out here to get some feedback.

Im going to take a look at the Netflix app tonight on my W9 and see what I can find as far as 3D is concerned. The W9 should be able to play it.

Netflix 3D (as well as Netflix Super HD) are dependent on your ISP. If they haven't joined the "program" it's a no go for you no matter what device you are using. I believe it's called "Netflix Open Connect Content Delivery Network" or something along those lines. You still need a compatible device, so you're not totally off the mark.

EDIT: Yeah, here we go: https://www.netflix.com/openconnect
EDIT EDIT: Just a little proof for you: https://us.en.kb.sony.com/app/answer...lix-service%3F

EDIT EDIT EDIT: After checking the proof link the w900a is clearly not listed as able to stream 3D via Netflix. I would recommend using the PS3 app if your ISP qualifies. From link:

The KDL-50R550A, KDL-60R550A, KDL-60R551A, KDL-70R550A, and KDL-70R551A TV models support 3D streaming from Netflix.
FINAL EDIT CORRECTION: A quick bit of research revealed that Super HD is supposedly now avaiable to all Netflix members regardless of ISP. When it first came out your ISP had to join the network. Apologies. My lunch break is almost over now so I won't be able to check back anymore. Hope this helped in some way. Enjoy your videos!

One-touch remote

Anyone else's one-touch remote peeling?

At first the bottom cover's grip started flaring and now half of it is unglued from the battery cover bottom. The material (nylon?) seems to have expanded slightly loosing the glue. I'm planning to call Warranty Support since the online chat with Sony just referred me to their phone number to call.

Edit:
FYI: I've had 3D on Netflix using my PS3 since I redeemed the free year (comcast).
MKV is a free file format, all it would take to support this would be a firmware update with the code they already have on other android-like smart TVs. So why didn't/don't they add it?
Maybe the size of the files. My TV crashes on Netflix Exit sometimes, seems like a memory leak. I imagine 3D would crash it more often.
