They r giving me a story that its under cost and technically they can only price match best buy prices only within the 15 days should i call the direct customer service line!?!?!!?

Not to say the TV doesn't have great colour, that we all know. Just saying, results may vary.

The same way people go by posted images of all the negative side of the TV. After all the pics of clouding, banding, etc. that are posted it's nice to see some one post pics of the beauty of this set. If you're going to accept all the negative pics as an accurate reflection of the TV without question why not accept the positive ones as well?

Good advice. I absolutely love my unit. As your pictures show, the color and black level are incredible. I am so glad I jumped on this TV. I did get Best Buy to almost price match but I would have been happy with this unit at $1,999...

Guys I need help I'm torn between thus tv (w900a) and the hx850 I know it's an older model but I love the monolithic design and pq I read is great. There is a used one on eBay for 1500 and this one is 1699 at Fry's.

What's your take?

I can't afford to take a half day off of work over and over again to keep returning this thing. The delivery guys always want to set me up for a weekday from 1-5.

Yeah, it's a frustrating exercise. You are the only other person in this thread who has claimed to have yellowish areas on a white screen. I was starting to think I was the only one.

Yes, I have been preaching the fact as well that some of these issues look worse in the picture than by the naked eye because of under or overexposure of the camera. Underexposure makes the banding look worse than it is, and overexposure makes clouding look worse than it is.

In either case, I noticed the $1600 pricing on my EPP says through February 1.  I am kinda doing a wait and see if the price goes down any further after that point.  Before they had it at $1600 with a "until January 11" and it seems it was extended to February 1 now.  If it goes down another couple hundred dollars, I will bite.  My Best Buys and Frys in the area (Orange County, CA) seem to still have decent stock, so I am hoping my frugal waiting game doesn't result in the well drying up on the Sony Store side...

I am in the process of moving, so I might just wait till I move into the new place and then buy it. I hope Sony doesnt run out of stock by then.

Agreed, the current price is not permanent, and either is the $1699.99 price. It most likely will stay at $1999.99 until they are all gone.

Yupe, I got mine yesterday from BB because it was closer to my place. They did take sometime checking it out online and making a phone call to the local Frys to see if they had it in stock.

I also checked out my email later on and saw a reply from amazon.com for approving the lower price if I ordered in 48 hours, they would refund 191 dollars from their current price (1790).

First thing is to disable ECO settings (light sensor, power saving). This will enhance the contrast as otherwise everything is too dim. And then follows picture settings which you have to adjust to your liking. I dealt with picture settings for about 2 weeks when I settled down and now I'm very satisfied with all the sources (HTPC and TV).

best, D.

I have a Samsung 40" LN40A550 from 2008-9. I am looking to upgrade to a bigger size and saw the deal on Frys. I was wondering if it's worth upgrading now or wait another year and get a 4K as it becomes more of a standard?

This TV will not disappoint you and the price is not to be missed. I was looking at this TV since Sep. and finally bought it yesterday. I am upgrading from a 32" Sony!

As far as the timing goes, it is totally up to you. I will wait and enjoy this one for 2-3 years minimum before I upgrade to a 4K.

Same here. I had amazon price match frys at $1,699, and I set delivery for 2/3 after I am in my new home. You might try this route. Others have had problems getting Amazon to PM.

I don't purchase anything this expensive with out doing the hardcore research on it first. This year I upgraded from my 2010 Samsung LN46B750, and I went through a Panny 60ST60 (couldn't do the IR) Samsung 60F8000 (bad panel and flash lighting in the corners) before I got the W900A and It's just an gorgeous TV.

I purchased my set in October and it had a build date of August. It was flawless right out of the box, no bad pixels, banding, DSE, patchy clouding, or anything. It does however have the slightly darker edges on the sides, but only noticeable if it's on a bright white background and your looking for it.

Sony S5100 Blu-ray
Yamaha Aventage A1030

I don't worry about defects unless it's pixels. My current Samsung has a purple hue when the scenes are dark and viewed from a slight angle and it doesn't bother me. I just don't want to buy a tv right before a new trend. I remember my sister buying a Sony 16:9 Bravia 30" CRT and the next year LCDs were affordable at that size and price range.

Both of my sets were built in October and have bad uniformity and other issues. I really want a better set, but I'm so nervous that I'm going to have to take a half day off work for yet another delivery just to have another set with issues.

Keep exchanging it until you are satisfied. There is no reason to pay that kind of money just to be disappointed.

I admit to being pretty confused. I'm trying to set up my system optimally (duh) using the Wow disc and information I've gathered here. I use the Netflix app on the 900A and a PS3 for gaming and Blurays. I stream to the TV from my PC with a media server, and once in a blue moon we tune something in over-the-air. I am finding the interaction between RGB full, RGB limited, superwhite, etc. on the TV and on the PS3 to be beyond my ken. I know this has been talked about here, but could someone help an old man out and tell me definitively how I should configure my PS3 and TV with respect to each other (not settings, I can handle that)? Thanks, Jack

It's an LCD, nothing to do but enjoy it. Same goes for plasma, you can enjoy it from day one, I did. Some just prefer to use slides to age the phosphors evenly. It is not necessary, some just do it to have their panel calibrated after 300hrs. Same thing can be achieved by varying your content. Just enjoy your set and find good settings for it.

Many, many thanks for posting the price drop! I bought my 55w900a from Best Buy a bit under two weeks ago; I just dropped by the store and they price matched the Fry's online price.

Doesn't seem like there is a better led out there right now. Especially for 1599.

They should match it IF they have it. Tell them other BB and Amazon customers got the match.
