I considering buying my first Vizio TV, this 60"...

Price is very tempting...I've always owned Samsung and Sony and have never had issues after 4-5-6 years etc...

How do people feel about the Vizio products after several years of use...
I realize this 60" a new model...

My BB salesman said they are less expensive for a reason and do not expect them to last as long as Sony, Samsung, Sharp, etc...?
BB has a 5 yr warranty for $220, which might help...but I've never been a fan of extended warranty's...

Thoughts?

I wouldn't buy a Vizio without an extended warranty of some kind. Vizio has no support whatsoever once the factory warranty has expired. You could look into purchasing a Square Trade warranty--it would be cheaper than BB's but not as liberal in it's terms but at least it would save you having to post a thread here in a couple of years about how lousy Vizio is for not replacing a broken set that's 1 year out of warranty.

Consumer Reports rates Vizio very good. I've seen previous owners stand by them in this forum, so I wouldn't worry. I recently bought a 70" & a 42" Vizio & love the picture ( sound is good too). Vizio is offering discounted warranties until the end of February. I paid 1548 for my 70" and can get an extra 4 years for $149 so that's not bad for peace of mind.

^^^ any tv mfr can have bad production runs from time to time but Vizio seems to have more reported issues than most. Especially in the customer support area and the quality of repairs. Anything from Consumer Reports should be taken with a grain of salt. I'd give more credence to the folks here than I would CR because the "testing" done here is in actual user's homes and not some sterile environment with a tv that was probably hand-picked for the review. I think extended warranties are a good idea on electronics in general but with a Vizio product, it's an absolute requirement.

I've got three Vizio TVs: 42" plasma, 32" plasma, 16" lcd.

The 42" is coming up on 7 years, and I've never had any problems with it. I'll be looking at the 80" M-series when it comes out...

Anything but Vizio. I'd look at the 60U50 from Panasonic for $999, the 55" or 60" EH6000 for 799$ and 1098$, the Sharp LE640 60" for $1099, the 60UT50 from Panasonic for $1499. Any of these are night and day over anything from Vizio.

60F8000; RX-V367; TSi300 x2; YST-SW102; Harmony 650; Apple TV; Microsoft Xbox One Console; RF-HTS120;

xRite i1 Display Pro (OEM); CalMAN 5 Basic; ColorHCFR

I have a 37 inch Vizio that is several years old & have a Panasonic Plasma in the bedroom & have a 65 inch 3D Vizio in the family room. The Vizio has a WOW picture. When you look at the food channel it looks like you could eat the food. 3D & movies make you smile. Even company are amazed at the picture of the Vizio. Waching TV now is like looking through a window. It is simply amazing. My wife who does not understand why I was buying a new is amazed at the picture. The first 3D we watched she kept saying "WOW".
My daughter has a 55 inch Vizio & her TV is the same way. I do not think you can go wrong with any TV you buy. Just decide which one will fit your needs. Good luck.
