I recently picked up a LG 47LM500 with 4 pairs of passive 3D glasses included on clearance and can find next to no information about it. Was the LG LM5800 series only sold at Best Buy? Other than some websites listing limited product overviews and the manufacturer's product page (http://www.lg.com/us/tvs/lg-47LM5800-led-tv) it almost seems like this series didn't exist. I can't believe MSRP was $1300 USD. I didn't come close to paying half that. I don't expect reference picture quality but feel I got what I paid for.

Connectivity seems ok for a non smart tv. The only source I have connected to this is a PS3. So the only things I have viewed on this are Blu ray, streaming video and video games. I did try an over the air antenna but couldn't get a signal in my location.

For the most part I will say I am happy with the 2D and 3D video. My only negative viewing experience has been the Avengers and Dredd 3D Blu-rays. There were many instances of blurred 3D effects but this stopped when I shut the display off and turned it back on. I will guess this is edge lit as opposed to backlit as described by LG because when the screen is supposed to be dark it is brighter around the sides and especially in the corners.I have also not changed any of the settings out of the box. I almost feel like those people that say they can't see a difference between SD and HD or DVD and Blu ray. I like the passive 3D because powered glasses scare me for several reasons and I can use the glasses I accidentally forgot to leave behind at the movie theater. If I try hard every once in a while I can see ghosting in 3D if I am looking for it.

The sound on this has been pretty bad. I don't think I hear so good anyways because my wife is always saying it's too loud. The virtual volume dial ranges from 0 to 100. While I haven't listened to anything higher than 15, at that level the speakers sound like they will blow when any level of bass hits. I have always heard not to expect much of built in speakers but this is pretty sad.

The other display I considered was the 47CM565.

The LM5800 was sold at both Best Buy and Future Shop here in Canada. Walmart and Costco sold the LM5850 which is the same model as the 5800 but with a BP420 Bluray player included. Yes you're right; nohing in the way of reviews for these models.

If your interested I started a thread a while back for the LM5800/5850. Hasn't been too much interest in this model I'm afraid. I posted my Disney WOW disc calibration settings there if you are interested.

Hope you continue to enjoy your new TV. If you have any problems with your set you can post them in the above thread. I might be able to help you.
