Hello all,

I am looking into getting a 60" or larger passive 3d tv. Since plasmas don't come with passive, I guess I am going with LED. I don't need any bells and whistles like apps and I am using a receiver already so speakers aren't important. All I need is a 1080p passive 3d tv that looks great for a home theater. Personally I would LOVE a led passive projector but that is probably waaay over my budget.

So,buy now? Wait? Brands? Models? I heard visio, panasonic, lg and some samsungs are good.

Recommendations?

Thanks,

Josh

No to Vizio. Samsung doesn't make a passive 3D FP, Panasonic only offers it one of their LED/LCDs which is the ET5 model, which is mediocre at best, so that leaves LG and Toshiba. From LG I'd recommend looking at the LM7600. It does have those "bells and whistles" you're referring to, but regardless I think it's one of the few LG's to consider from 2012. Most other LG FP's I've seen this year have been very underwhelming to say the least. The Toshiba L7200 is actually a pretty solid option well and one I'd give a look at.

If I'm in your shoes, I'd look at those 2 in that order.

Oh, excellent choice! The lg is nice with all the features and it even has dual play. That is a huge bonus! I am going to find a store that carries them locally so I can see the screen and find some deals. Thank you so much!

Any other recommendations from anyone? (Although if the picture is amazing, I think I like the lg.)

Have you seen the Lg 7200? It seems it is basically a best buy exclusive. Has the features I was looking for and it is a 60". A couple hundred more than I can get the 7600 but it is the 60" I would love to have.

Opinions?

My apologies, I sort of left the 7200 out. Yeah that is also a solid option for what you're looking at.

Nice catch.

It has a little less contrast (7 mil versus 9 mil). But I did take a look at it and it looks really good. Hmmm..... Decisions decisions....

I wouldn't dismiss Vizio quite so quickly. Check to see if either Best Buy or WalMart or Sams has a M3D651SV you can take a look at. I have one and I'm pretty satisfied.

Seems the M3D651SV has some series gaming lag. Sorry, I didn't mention that part. Thank you for the recommendation though!

Disregard those "dynamic" contrast ratios that manufacturers list, they're bogus and entirely inaccurate. The LM7200 is literally identically the LM7600 from what I've gathered.

And yes, do be so quick to dismiss Vizio. Garbage, garbage, garbage.

Yeah, I'm trying to figure out if the 7200 is worth the extra hassle and money. It is 60" versus 55" but it is still 1080p max but 400 bucks more. Not sure.... I REALLY wish the led projectors were affordable. Or OLeds. Mmmm.... Oleeeeds. lol.

It's a matter of preference in size. I'd say the 60" is worth the extra jump. But there's little to no jump in terms of performance from the LM7200 to the LM7600. Up or down.
